Lmao what a problematic movie. The so-called protagonists were criminal. It was silly and funny, and kind of cute in a weird way. Not great cinema, but a fun watch.

One of the funniest of the many 80s teen-sex/screwball comedies, along with the first two Porky's movies. The sequel is also a fun ride, but the rest of the series went downhill fast and brutal. Gotta love how that geeky laugh of lewis Skolnick kept its course by showing up in several "laughing" tracks on 90s sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond.

Yeah, our culture today views sexuality so differently that it's hard not to be disturbed by the scene where Lewis has sex with Judy when she thinks it's Stan. At the time, we were coming out of a couple of decades where sex among the youth was viewed much more liberally, more openly. Free love was a concept not too far in the past. Don't get me wrong, though. A real-life incident like that one would probably still result in accusations of rape rather than sudden girlfriend status, but a culture less sensitive to sexual victimization and that was a little better at distinguishing fantasy from reality gave us a scene like this that played perfectly fine in 1984 but today is repulsive, and that's not even mentioning the spying on nude girls or the mass distribution of a nude picture of a member of the student body.
By the way, please don't infer that I'm condoning the behavior. I'm just speaking to the reception history of the film.

How is it problematic? It's about a revenge (see title). How many dozens of revenge movies have we seen in our lifetime where the protagonists did something illegal?

A co-worker of mine at the time had a line from the movie that he frequently used whenever something good would happen: "We've got bush!"

That movie was made in a time when most people weren't triggered snowflakes. People knew it was just a harmless movie and didn't feel the need to analyze everything under some PC microscope.

I am just glad the rumored remake back in 2006 was scrapped in the end, but then again I guess it would be far "better" off than having to pay for a PC rated 2017 version.

Was it "snowflakes" that made rape by deception and revenge porn? No, that was pretty much a civilized society of decent people that decided that. Go figure! When a movie is labeled an R rated sex comedy, audiences automatically knew going in they were going to see objectionable material. Anyone triggered by this movie is too uptight and should just stick with Disney cartoons. This movie is not problematic, YOU are problematic.

Yes, we should never criticise R-rated movies innit You can criticize R rated movies all you want, and I will criticize you for it all I want.

I miss movies like this now a days, the 80s was just harmless fun. A time before everyone became offended at something. Its just a movie.

How about the snowflakes who would complain about Long Duk Dong being racist and other zany stuff on IMDb's old Sixteen Candles message board. There would be people on there who claimed they HATED the movie because of that character.
