Because every iteration of the character since 1941 has had an American accent. And it's not that she speaks all languages fluently, she speaks all languages in such a way as to be indistinguishable from a native speaker. The English language didn't originate in America. Who said it did?

The English language didn't originate in America. Who said it did? Your justification for why she should sound American is that her ability to speak all languages should mean that she can talk like a native speaker. Following that logic, Diana should be talking with an British accent, and her dialect shouldn't be in modern English.

Not that logic has anything to do with this comic book character anyway. If you want to bring logic into it, the only language she should be able to speak is the language of the ancient Greeks.

But they do need to have the accent of a native English speaker if they have the ability to pass for a native as Wonder Woman does. The accent can be American, British, Australian or Jamaican for all I care. WW has always had this ability. That's how WW passed for an American girl named Diana Prince starting in 1941 in the comics. When she went to that German party in the movie was she speaking German well enough that no one knew she wasn't German? Or was everyone there speaking English with German accents? Don't even get me started on how Steve Trevor "bluffed" his way in with a phony German accent. I guess Steve can speak German like a native but WW can't speak English like a native.

The movie is a success and credit where it IS due...and that is partly to how fantastic Gal Gadot played her. So no...she's not miscast.

I heard all this before...GG is too skinny, too Jewish, not american enough blah blah blah. The majority of the fan base (with the exception of a few) approved of her performance and stated she was perfectly cast for this role. Megan Fox for WW? Please tell me you were joking.

Ihonestly thought both the physicality and the charm factor were nailed unequivocally well.

She's a better actress than Gadot and not a twig and can speak English. The perfect WW would of lynn Collins or Gina Carano.

What sexism? Being underweight and having bod that's underdeveloped is not sexy. Didn't Gadot train with the israeli army? That's mandatory there and second of all signing for the service you are gonna go into the battlefield and fight, plenty of jobs in the service that don't involve that. The media was wrongfully trying to sell her as a female Rambo.

She is a GODDESS. I don't know what's wrong with this guy. Kat Dennings is a goddess not this woman He was obviously referring to the character and her superhuman strength despite her limited body and muscle mass. Dennings a goddess? That's an original notion, but goddess of what? Goddess of Annoyance, maybe....

If she can speak all languages her Dutch is abysmal. I as a native speaker couldnt understand and the whole theatre actually laughed. Mind you this was during war scenes. It was almost offensive.
