I'll Admit the movie was better than I thought, but Gadot is still miscast. Shes about 20 pounds too skinny for the roles,She should sound American and Gadot's acting was pretty bad(Especially when Steve Trevor dies). PS The Actor playing Ares was miscast as well. The accent complaint is completely ridiculous. I will admit that she's still on the thin side, but she more than made up for that with how well she looks in action scenes. Very few female actors out there can pull off action scenes like she does. Saldana as Gamora, Johansson as BW, Benoist as Supergirl... all of them move very "soft" when doing fight scenes. Not quite as believable as when Gadot does hers. So I can forgive her lack of steroidal-muscles because she more than makes up for it with the way she moves. I also agree that she can still improve on her acting, but she makes up for that with her charisma, charm, earnestness and sensuality.

Wonder Woman has an accent in recent comics, and honestly it makes sense considering she's pretty far from American soil to begin with. Gadot looked fine in the role and delivered a very good, leading performance as the character, whether or not she can excel as the lead in different roles for different films remains to be seen. David Thewlis was awesome as Ares, he may not have been physically imposing when he didn't have the armor on but that was the point - Till his big reveal he was supposed to come off as the last person you'd expect to be, well, the God of War, worked for me at least. Its one of her abilities she was at one time passing herself as American in the comics. The fact that she has an Israeli accent in this is awkward. As for Ares you can put him in the same category as both Esiemberg and Hackman as Lex Luthor

^ Well she's not passing herself off as American in the movie so it doesn't make sense that she has an American accent.

Also the fact that Steve Trevor can attempt to do a German Accent, but she can't pull off an American Accent. Epic fail. Epic fail once more that she is able to conversate with a German General without problems. You can put Gadot In the same category as the actresses. Idk why she would be more believable. No one is talking about her doing roids 15 or 20 pounds of weight wouldn't hurt her. Also what Charisma? In the final act she was very much lacking that. Gadot has a lot to thank Chris Pine for. He kept the movie together

Nice try. nope, these DCEU features are their own animals with things potentially being different from comics (as always). Has the rule you quote been formerly set up in the film? No? Then common sense applies: She as ancient Amazonian warrior speaks languages with her genuine Amazonian/ancient Greek accent. Full stop, period & fact.

Does that mean that she is now somehow less heroic?

And they can't just include stuff from the comics without it making sense in the movies. Are you going to complain too that Thor doesn't walk down a rainbow or that Superman doesn't wear red briefs outside his suit? Bottom line is, it didn't make sense for Diana to speak in an American accent in the movie. She is not in America and she is not trying to pass off as American. So epic fail on your part.

Actually, I do complain that Superman doesn't wear the red briefs. The solid blue costume looks like a onesie for a toddler. It's not enough to make me dislike the movies but I think it was a mistake.

Like I personally prefer Thor shaven and with a helmet like he is in his 616 comic version, but I'm not going to say that it was an epic fail on Marvel's part by portraying him as such in the movies.

It's just keeping up with the times, Wonder Woman is a more global hero these days than she was before where most of her adventures where based largely in the United States. Thewlis was awesome as Ares, far better than Eisenberg by a long shot. I won't bring up Hackman because for the time he was a solid Lex.

Hackman's Luthor is a fantastic interpretation of the character.

They did all that because Gadot can't Speak English Fluently. If they had cast American or somebody that can do American Accent nothing would changed. She ain't speaking with a Greek Accent, she's using her Accent. Fail

I would argue there is no need for a qualifier. Hackman's Luthor is a fantastic interpretation of the character. How was Hackman a good Lex? He was over the top. First, I would say, why is that a bad thing? He's a supervillain. Clancy Brown in the Superman Cartoon is a fantastic interpretation as well, but he is a subdued version. I think Hackman is a fantastic Lex because he is charismatic, brilliant and ruthless, but clearly a bit insane. But extra emphasis on his charisma. Lex is the most dangerous when people like him, and people would love Hackman's Lex...he would more believably become president than Clancy Brown's in my opinion. Superman accuses Clancy Brown of being evil, people would probably be suspicious. Superman accuses Hackman of being evil, people think Superman is nuts.
