Feature Supergirl and use Brainiac as the villain.
"...The sequel to Man of Steel has been developing in secret. Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder finished writing a story for the film back in November. Multiple writers were approached to turn into a screenplay including the writers from Watchmen and the 300 movie series. Brainiac will be the villain and Supergirl will be introduced to the DCEU." (Screen Rant) Sounds good to me. I really want to see Lex Luthor and Superman go at it in just one movie to get a proper traditional Superman movie. Still feature Supergirl and have Metallo on the side. But Brainiac as the villain is still good.

But how could they have developed a movie in secret?

That doesn't sound too bad. I hope that Supergirl is kept to a simple cameo. I would much rather see a Superman movie in which he is the main focus, with no other heroes to clog it up a bit.

I wouldn't mind seeing an adaption of The Girl from Krypton but that would be more of a Trinity film than a Superman film. Plus Darkseid needed to be an established character.
Yes to Brainiac, no to Supergirl.

Brainiac vs Superman will be good.

it's a fine idea for her introduction but it's too soon for it. which lends some plausibility to the rumor.

50/50 on Supergirl; could be great or corny depending on how they go about it. Brainiac is the obvious choice for the villain, though hopefully he won't be too similar to Zod.

I say no to Supergirl. Absolutely...no. Why not? I just find her corny and unnecessary. We already have Wonder Woman in this universe...no need to add another all powerful heroine. She's just not needed.
