I just bought this on YouTube. I don't see how people thought this was real. There was a few impossible close ups that couldn't have happened if the whole thing was real.

It was made back in 1980 and looks realistic enough. People back then weren't as used to the same standard of special effects that we take for granted. Especially if we're talking lower-budget Italian productions.

I got 15 minutes to go in the movie and this is some really sickening stuff. I don't feel sorry for what's gonna happen to the film crew at all.

It has a nice soundtrack, at least.

Too bad the haters always break it down because of the animal cruelty. There are movies with worse animal cruelty than in this flick. Love the movie and especially the ending. It's the only movie where found footage style filming actually works for me.

There being animal cruelty in other films doesn't excuse the cruelty in this film... ALL animal cruelty for entertainment is wholly unacceptable... that fact for many, myself included, makes any other consideration of any possible merits of Cannibal Holocaust irrelevant... Terrible film, to be shunned.

I told my friend on Facebook that this film was really well made as a film. It's too bad that it turns my stomach.
The animal cruelty didn't need to be added. This film did really well but it killed off the whole Cannibal Mock Documentary sub-genre that existed back then and that says a lot about the impact of this film.

I believe you were still a bear when you were criticizing this movie. Will the happy bear ever come back?

I can visit the horror board again now... that twat troll from the old site can't serial report anyone on here 👍 Well, they can, but it would be fruitless, it is human mods on here 😃

So far only used it on 1 person, not really a troll but I just had no need for seeing his publicity for Evil Dead forum any more. And I'm also on other boards but I haven't seen Lep or other troll accounts popping up. I am starting to believe they really are in a deep depression.

It's a good horror film, with a great soundtrack, but personally I find Cannibal Ferox more fun and more rewatchable.

I put off watching this movie for years because of the animal cruelty. After seeing it mentioned so many times, I finally broke down and gave it a chance. I did fast forward through the animal scenes though. Glad the movie industry has come a long way since then. But, really if I wanted to take a strong stance against watching movies where animals were harmed, I would have to cut off all the old westerns, Ben-Hur etc. I love South Korean cinema right now, but I was sad to read that they still use trip wires on horses in actions scenes... Anyways, regarding Cannibal Holocaust. I am glad I watched it. If you are a horror lover, it's kinda a must. The soundtrack is really good too.

Excellent movie. Genuinely disturbing with some really convincing gore effects and a beautiful soundtrack. 10/10
