I might be one of them, then. But I enjoyed show's realism the most (apart from hydrofluoric acid bit, of course, you use lye to dispose of the bodies). The characters had very realistic motivations and acted logically (except those moments they were overcome by emotions). Walt's ultimate problem was pride and indecision. Breaking Bad was serious, funny, tragic, heroic, and exciting, all at the same time. Better Call Saul is more of a 'slow burn' type show. It's a bit more.... deliberate.Breaking Bad was also deliberate, but in BCS? The deliberate part is more central to the overall tone of the show. IMO. That's my take, anyway. I agree about "slow burn" process, but it also may be interpreted as either lack of creativity or plain lazy writing. Would it kill them to throw in, say, some securities fraud, money laundering or cartel executions? Yes, yes, we get it, Jimmy is poor, misunderstood, tortured soul, but how we can dwell on it for 3 seasons n a row?

I suppose one could say that. I don't know about 'laziness', 'creativity' and all.
First off, given that Saul never became the 'gun wielding' anti hero of Walter White? I'm fairly certain the series, by design, was never intended to be the potential 'shoot 'em up' Breaking Bad was.
That said? I think the intent was to get inside the 'legal world' of his brother, Howard, and Kim.
The "Nachos, Hectors, Gus's, and Mikes" are the writers way of 'throwing us a bone' concerning "Breaking Bad". Even their arcs have been far less 'action packed' than "BB", which saw crazy stuff once every few weeks.
Which leads me to this: there is a limitation to what they can write. Simply because they are trapped into one thing. Saul Goodman is Saul Goodman by the time of "Breaking Bad". In other words, the end of this show must agree with the start of the other. So there are limitations.
You've got basically four characters you can send on a roller coaster ride to affect Saul. Kim, Howard, Chuck, and Nacho. Only one is involved in 'the biz' of Breaking Bad. Mike has to show up as Mike, Gus as Gus, Hector........etc.
I never expected the high octane run of Breaking Bad. So I'm enjoying it.
That said? I preferred Breaking Bad.

Officially renewed for season 4. That's a relief.

Was anyone else reminded of the movie THE CONVERSATION when Chuck was tearing his house up?

Was anyone else reminded of the movie THE CONVERSATION when Chuck was tearing his house up? Yes although Gene Hackman had a valid reason to be paranoid. Chuck was just crazy.

The fact that jazz music was playing during Chuck's rampage made me think it was actually an homage to the film. Nice catch. I was going to mention how a saxophone was much less dangerous than a lantern since both of them destroyed almost everything else. My faulty memory had Hackman leaning against a wall sitting on the floor at the end though.
