Paul Newman ; hands down.
i have not really seen anything from James Stewart but it's unlikely i would go against Newman in general as he's got a commanding presence especially in certain roles.

As much as I love Stewart's work, he never seemed to play any thing other than the gosh-shucks guy next door. Newman had a greater range, so I must vote him as the better actor.

Both were great actors but Newman was the better of the two.

That's a tough choice. I really couldn't imagine one outdoing the other in the roles they played. The acting from each has always caused me great enjoyment. I enjoyed more of the roles Stewart played though, so I'll go with him.

Wuh wuh well it's Jimmy Stewart of course. Better actor. Better American. Better person all around. Probably made a better marinara too.
