Did anyone check out The Gong Show revival? Honestly, the actual acts were pretty bad, but not in a good way like I believe they were supposed to be. However, the real highlight of the show was seeing Mike Myers return to TV.
For those of you who don't know Myers is hosting the show as a character named Tommy Maitland. He's tried to make himself as unrecognizable as possible. They've even given his fictional character a back story and nobody who works on the show or even the network will admit it's Myers. While it can be construed by many as dumb, I actually think it's really clever. There's something really awesomely meta about Myers doing this. It feels different than other things we've seen. Plus as a fan I think it's great seeing him again.
Like I said, the show itself needs work. I actually think they should have Myers character given some type of story line rather than just act as a host. He's truly the best part of the show and the main reason to tune in.
