My block list choices only blocks threads, not posts. Even so, I've always been able to see my block list until last night. Now, I can't see the list and if I look for someone who I know is on it, the user shows as having no items checked in the blocking definition. YET, when I look at the list of threads on a board, I still see that some threads have been written by users who are on my block list. What gives?

I don't understand. You can't see your block list, but you can see users on it that have no block options checked?

Yet, when I see the thread list, a bunch of threads show as being blocked because the creator is on my blocked list. (I only block threads, not posts.) If I bring up someone to block who I know is already blocked, none of the boxes are checked. Strange, eh?

Try adding them to the block list again, check all boxes, then save. Then clear the check boxes and save again.

I can see the whole thread list on the boards now with no one's threads blocked, but that's ok. I'll just start over. I'm only doing this to the threads so I can see who needs to go onto the list right away as soon as I look at the whole thread list. Thanks! All set.

AdminOk, after some more experimenting, blocking threads by itself doesn't work anymore. It's necessary to block posts and threads, but then the posts for the blocked person don't show up at all. So I guess I won't block anyone anymore because I do like to see the posts. Thanks.

SciFiveI've never been real happy with the blocking function here as I believe it could use a lot of improvement. For example, blocking threads should be built-in and not require a third-party add-on. And even that add-on is wonky and should include an option to remove the block message from the thread lists. Your issue was probably my fault, though. I tried a code recently to hide quotes from blocked users, but it caused some problems. In any case, I'm glad you're "all set."

If you block threads only, it doesn't work and the entry disappears from the profile block list the next time you refresh the page. If you block threads AND posts, then it blocks threads (which show up on the list as "created by someone on your block list" or whatever). It also blocks the posts which you never see it all.Isn't that the whole idea? Well, no, because I like to see the posts but I don't like to see certain kinds of political threads. I'd had quite enough of the 'who will run or beat politician x in 2020' or 'do you think politician x is human' (etc). I'll just gloss over the titles now.

Oh, I see. That's interesting and good to know. I assume it's because the thread block is a plug-in, so the built-in block function doesn't recognize it and so assumes there are no options checked and clears the entry. Are you saying you'd rather have the "click to show message" button back?

Oh, I see. That's interesting and good to know. I assume it's because the thread block is a plug-in, so the built-in block function doesn't recognize it and so assumes there are no options checked and clears the entry. This is a change in more ways than one. It used to be that you could block someone's posts or whatever and then clear all the boxes - but the entry (the poster's name) would stay on the blocked list with no boxes checked. Now it disappears if you have only the thread block checked - and it disappears (the poster entry) if you have no boxes checked. This is new.Are you saying you'd rather have the "click to show message" button back? Yeah, I would. It's not worth it for just my own convenience, but I'd like to see the "click to show message" button back because it's now the only way I can block the threads but still read the posts.
