Oldest: The Magnificent Seven (1960), watched it and the remake back-to-back. All seven are dead now that Robert Vaughan is gone.
Newest: Life (2017), very similar to Alien (1979), only the creature not nearly as scary.

Earliest: Isle Of Fury / Frank McDonald (1936). One of the not-so-bad films Bogart made when he was languishing as a grunt in the Warner factory system.
Most recent: My Cousin Rachel / Roger Michell (2017). Terrific new version of a Daphne du Maurier novel that had been filmed once before in 1951).

Isle Of Fury was pretty bad, that big fake squid, pretty funny. Yeah, that part was bad all right (and Bogie's pencil thin mustache was also unnecessary), but at least it was not shot entirely on sound stages. The production was funded for five days location shooting on Catalina Island. That let the film breath a little. Also, Bogart gave it all he had, like he usually did.

In terms of a complete watch as of this day of June 26, 2017 Oldest: THE IMMIGRANT (1917) in honor of the 100th Anniversary June 17, 2017 (although I watched parts of THE POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL (1917), which was released March). Recent: WONDER WOMAN (2017) Although I disliked the patriarchal changes to the origin, I liked it.

Oldest: Gentleman's Fate (1931) - Until fairly recently, the only of John Gilbert's talking pictures I'd seen was Queen Christina, in which he had screen presence and seemed capable enough, but not particularly impressive. But discovering films like Downstairs, The Captain Hates the Sea and this one have revealed him to have been quite a fine actor. His costar, Louis Wolheim gives a big, blustery performance typical of the era, but Gilbert does circles around him with a hundred marvelous subtleties and creative nuances.
Newest, huh? Ummm...this month, huh? Well...I guess it was Chinatown (for the umpti-ninth time). My hubby watched Star Trek: Beyond a couple days ago. Gave it a thumbs-down. Technically, that's not a film I saw, but after 35 years, we no longer feel like two people; more like two halves of one person, so I'm sure I wouldn't have liked it either.

Oldest: Just a Gigolo (1031), kind of fun, but forgettable.
Newest; The Sense of an Ending (2017), well-acted but forgettable.
At least many of the films in the middle were memorable!

Oldest; Intermezzo 1936 showed in a three part retrospective of Ingrid Bergman's early Swedish movies (the others being Dollars and A Woman's Face) in newly restored versions and without commercial breaks as it was Swedish state television that showed them.
Newest: Art School Confidential 2006, One of those quirky movies that somehow works for me, something far from all so called quirky movies do, but this one does, maybe because it has heart.

A Man Escaped [1956] [rewatch] – spare and meticulous, possibly Bresson’s greatest work, or at least my favorite of the ones I’ve seen. 9/10
A Ghost Story [2017] – coincidentally another very spare, minimal work. Mysterious, melancholy and beautiful. Easily the best 2017 film I’ve seen so far, which is admittedly not that many. 9/10

Oldest: Island of Lost Souls (1932), an adaptation of "The Island of Doctor Moreau" starring Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi. It's aged not terribly well but the makeup is great.
Newest: Gold (2017), starring Matthew McConaughey. It's trying to be a cross between Wolf of Wall Street and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. It's not bad but not as good as McConaughey's physical transformation. And he is actually pretty entertaining and funny.

The Deadly Companions (1961) Two Men in Town (2014)
Both were interesting enough to watch once, but neither were really good. Missed chances for something great.
