Now that the new feature of ability to add a temporary status for 24 hours on Whatsapp, I predict that the IM app is all set to overtake Facebook is less than half-a-decade.
I have always preferred Whatsapp because Facebook is full of pretentious wannabes and every "post, like and share" reaches friends of friends of friends of friends, which include your mother, your girlfriend, your HOD or worse your boss. Hell, even if you can't even be a part of group without everyone knowing it. I have to think like a million times when I have to update my Facebook status with something political or controversial. Any suspicion of political incorrectness in our posts is reacted with ignorant thin-skinned comments which is basically only to show off thier "liberal, progressive, rationalist, intellectual credentials". Facebook is a place where almost everyone screams into their mics in a desperate game of Who-gets-more-likes.
Whereas Whatsapp is a mere internet substitute for good ol' word of mouth, where you can directly whisper into ears. And we can be part of our little meaningful group. We can be racist, sexist, misogynist and homophobic AF, for once putting down our pretentious decency. And the temporary status feature is definitely a step in that direction. One more advantage of using Whatsapp is that we could also get rid of the much annoying fake news because we not only say things to exactly whom we want to but we also hear things from exactly whom we want to.
Whatsapp is a better avatar of Social Media than Facebook or Twitter can ever be. Facebook is like a bazaar and it is on Whatsapp to give us a true sweet home in this anarchic vastness of internet.

Facebook owns WhatsApp. I really don't use either anymore.
I use iMessage because it's convenient and Skype.

I like WhatsApp. Some of those group chats are such a riot.

You spent a thousand words on coming up with a justification for such banalities? ? Talk about misplaced priorities in life...

But that is the whole point of posting on FB in the first place. Majority of people dying to get maximum number of likes as in the modern world that assures their place in the society. Posting something on whatsapp for 24hrs is just lame, at least FB allows people to share their idiotic memories over and over. Where is the fun of having your posts disappearing in 24hrs? If you are posting something, you are doing so to announce to the world for people to see, and that's what FB is allowing.
Note I am not an avid FB user but giving my opinion based on what I have seen.
