The Rock, Gal Gadot Invited to Join the Academy" Several actors and filmmakers from the DCEU, MCU, Star Wars and Star Trek films are among the 774 artists invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Every year, the Academy selects a new class of people to join the prestigious organization, which annually votes on the Oscars. Several actors and filmmakers from the DCEU, MCU, Star Wars and Star Trek films are among the 774 artists invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Every year, the Academy selects a new class of people to join the prestigious organization, which annually votes on the Oscars.
While the Academy throughout its history has tended to favor dramas when it comes to the major categories, a surprisingly huge number of performers and filmmakers predominantly associated with sci-fi, superhero and fantasy films have been invited to join this year. From the DC Extended Universe, Wonder Woman actresses Gal Gadot and Elena Anaya have received invitations, as has Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie and director David Ayer, and upcoming Batgirl director and Justice League back-up filmmaker Joss Whedon." And as the title of the article says, Dwayne Johnson was also invited to join the Academy. This could be a sign that the Academy may be ready to acknowledge the impact of sci-fi, superhero, and fantasy movies within the industry. Just think: Gal Gadot could be casting 1 of the many votes to nominate Wonder Woman for an Oscar for Best Picture.

Actors giving themselves awards in grandiose, self-serving ceremonies is of little interest to me. Peer recognition in any given field is fine so long as I don't have to sit through it.

It won't happen, unless the WW Production Team try to pull a "Misogyny" Card to force any recognition.

You are such a biased fuck. "From the Marvel Cinematic Universe, invitees include Avengers stars Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth. Elizabeth Olson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, as well as directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been extended invitations; as has Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt and The Hulk star Lou Ferrigno"

You are such a biased fuck. MCU doesn't have any films that are Oscar contenders. The only CBMs that are potential Oscar contenders are Wonder Woman and Logan. So if MCU people want to vote for a CBM, they'll have to vote for either Wonder Woman or Logan.
