I ALWAYS existed. Moot discussion. God created the angels. Satan is an evil angel. Since Jesus is God, that means Jesus always existed. Since God created the angels, that means Jesus always existed and Satan didn't.

Just what could the satan possibly tempt Jesus with anyway? If Jesus firmly believed that he was the son of God, God made Flesh, then all was basically his anyway. Here's a radical idea, read the Bible! (Not just Skeptics Annotated).

He fasted 40 days. Tempted to make bread out of stones. Taken to the top of the temple by satan.tempted to throw himself off to cause angels to intervene. Shown all the kingdoms of the world in an instant and offered to be given them by satan. Tempted by the weakness of the flesh, the pride of life and the desire to use his power for earthy gain. Tested in every way we are, yet without sin. I think there were more tests endured possibly than we have record of. Jesus answered each time with the word of God.

Tested in every way we are, yet without sin. I think there were more tests endured possibly than we have record of. Jesus answered each time with the word of God. See, this is a nice summary. The first test: tempted to make bread out of stones. Never gave a good reason why not do it. And, what's more, it's not as if this thought wouldn't have occurred to him in all those 40 days anyway, so if he resisted the urge to do so in that time, it's not like the satan would mention it and Jesus would go, "ooooh, that's right, I hadn't thought of that!" The second test, tempted to throw himself off to cause angels to intervene - how is this a test? Where's the temptation? Might as well say, "throw a die, and it will yield a number between 1 and 6. Go on, go on, try it!" I don't need to bloody try it, I know it is so. Why should I bother? And the third, tempted with things which 1) did not even interest him and 2) was technically already his anyway. Big whoop.

I fear that is because you read it pretty superficially. The tests were all about taking shortcuts to try to achieve goals that had to be done the hárd way if at all. Obviously worshipping the devil is /was/will be out of the question (except for modern atheists eho think it's a joke).

The first test, Jesus had already gone 40 days without food - if he hadn't used his powers by that time, why would he start now, at the satan's urging? It's not as if Jesus needed reminding of what his powers were. Especially taking into consideration that Jesus knows full well the purpose of the satan being there. The second test, how was that a short cut? That was just a dare. Nothing to be gained whatsoever, so it wasn't even a temptation. The third test, how would that be remotely interesting to Jesus? And what was the purpose of a test, anyway? If Jesus is God, then God should know the strength of Jesu will. Even if Jesus was not God, God would still know the outcome ahead of time.

The tests were not for God who as you say, knew the outcome. But Jesus had chosen to forgo perfect knowledge when he became human, and the tests were for him so that he would know that hr had strength.

1) The Holy Spirit guided him to go into the wilderness. Weird. Imagine yourself wandering into the desert and staying there for 40 days 2) I understand the allure of leaving society and being alone in the desert where you can be at complete peace with yourself 3) I, Satan, have been well known to dwell in the desert according to judaic traditions. Does that mean it was perhaps I who made him wander into my dominion ?? 4) It seems Jesus had a lot in common with me. 5) This seems like a divine plan. God wanted Jesus to be tested by me. Reading your post makes me grateful not to be twisted.

So if Jesus is son of God, then so am I When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown. — Genesis 6:1-4 Was it multiple Jesuses who were enjoying the daughters of man ? We are children of God, but Jesus is THE son of God. There's a difference. Oh, good, filmfan is here to spout his anti-Christian BS doctrines! How tedious can it get?

If Jesus was God then the testing was surely moot anyway since not only would He have known what the tests were in advance, but also what His own reply would be. Nothing is a surprise to the omniscient 'outside of time and space'.

Nothing is a surprise to the omniscient 'outside of time and space'. the temptation was to use his power for his own earthly desires. Satan fell because he sought to lift himself higher than God. Jesus the Son subjected himself, not my own will but Thine be done. He sought to accomplish His purpose. The greatest temptation was to have power over all things. From the beginning of his ministry to the end, satan tried to destroy the work of God. At the end, Jesus said it is finished. He knew the end from the beginning. Now all things under heaven and earth have been subjected to Him.

I don't have a belief in God and find much of the claims pertaining illogical. It is nothing personal.
