"Ludicrism" is the religion that explains the Universe. You see, in 2113 A.D., Professor Ludicrous perfected the time machine.
Or so he thought it was "perfected".
Indeed, it worked, or it will work, depending on how far you are from 2113 A.D., but it was out of control. It spiraled all energy and matter of the Universe into the past, in a spiral pattern to the beginning, which was actually the end, because it ended the end, but then began the beginning by going backwards, and the energy and mass all promptly began going forward again to begin the spiral of growth we have reached today, all doomed to the exact same pattern that has happened over and over for Eternity.
So, in just under 200 years, according to "Ludicrists", we reach the end, and it can't be averted, because just as the people who know better try to stop Professor Ludicrous from starting his time machine, he turns it on, and the series of events goes into motion again, so in just under 200 years, it will be billions of years ago, but that's because billions of years ago is just a couple of hundred years in the future.
Nothing you can do about it, but worship at the Ludicrist temple and brag that you know it will happen.

I guess that's as plausible as several other ideas that I've read.

The events of Futurama completely disprove these claims.

There are, of course, heretics, heretics who claim that these events occur in 2331 A.D., but they are "anathema". Personally, I don't believe they should be burned at the stake, and I'm looking to make reforms. These heretics are just misguided, not truly "evil".
