I can't stomach Nicholas Cage. Have you tried him with hot sauce? Maybe with a bit of cinnamon sugar mixed in?

a lot of times I feel as if posters deliberately pretend to misunderstand the context of something just in order to spice up and fight. i think they know very well how something was meant and pretend not to. I also think a certain posters post things they know are provocative or wrong just to start fights. In all I think this board is a bit of a theater when most posters are acting and not being themselves. If that's how you honestly feel about it, isn't it more of an observation?

I have a soft-spot for adult films, especially "the golden age" from '72-'84, but even more so in that brief '72-'73 period when it was on the verge of the mainstream and was able to attract actors and filmmakers with real talent. It's a shame that Miller v California pretty much killed the potential for the genre going even more mainstream and attracting even better talent, and of course the advent of VHS killed it even further. Ever since the quality has been sporadic (to put it mildly), and until Wasteland came along in 2012 I don't think there was any serious challengers to The Opening of Misty Beethoven in '73 for the best ever made.

Not sure what to say here. In my time I've seen several films with some rather intense sex scenes, but the films weren't about all about that. When it comes to films that are all about that, I wouldn't know quality from lack of quality, so I'll defer to your expertise in this field.

I will very often read a provocative note and get so riled up that I just must reply in almost violent terms to avoid exploding. BUT Having gotten it said and all the anger out of my system. I delete and go about my business. De-steamed and not having to worry about retaliation.

When it comes to films that are all about that, I wouldn't know quality from lack of quality, so I'll defer to your expertise in this field. When it started the first adult films weren't really "all about that" either, they were closer to mainstream films that just happened to have explicit sex. Even a mainstream critic like Roger Ebert favorable reviewed a few of them. He really liked The Devil in Miss Jones, which is a pretty bizarre film--probably the only adult film that opens with a suicide: www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-devil-in-miss-jones-1973 The Opening of Misty Beethoven actually works better as a comedy than an adult film. It's genuinely hilarious, with great writing, solid acting, and some fantastic direction and editing. The way it treats much of the sex reminds me of Luis Bunuel's surrealist films where conventions were casually turned on their heads. Plus, how can you not like a movie with a line like: Misty Beethoven: What's the biggest difference between New York and Rome? Seymour Love: There aren't as many Italians in Rome. I think one thing I appreciate about adult films in general is that they're fiendishly hard to do well. I've thought for a while about writing a lengthy essay exploring exactly why I think they're uniquely hard to do well compared to other genres.

Eva Yojimbo Speaking of Adult films. I worked as a volunteer at the local library and we had a book and movie room for resale of donated items. I was in charge of the movies (got first dibs on the good ones too, but, I digress ) One helpful Henry type just could not understand why, if the shelves with the children's movies were labelled CHILDREN'S MOVIES , we objected to all the rest having signs proclaiming ADULT MOVIES for all of the non-kids pictures.

I will admit to have have arguments with Ada when she was here. I also agreed with her occasionally. You agreed with her occasionally? W What are you trying to do? Give me a massive heart attack? No harm intended. You didn't notice? I agreed with her on the new board probably more than the old, and a lot of the time on the board she went to after being banned here.

I work night shift and Ada is on the other side of the world, so by the time I got home she usually posted quite a lot that I missed.

For a year on the old Yahoo Message Groups I ran a for-free sexual horoscope group under the owner name of 'Madame Erogenous', just to see if it would fly. It did. I gave it up eventually as I got bored with all the typing up once a month. At the end it had close to 150 members, who had sign up for their weekly email despatch of advice - of which a handful even asked for personal readings.
