Maybe this will be moved to "New and popular shows", or even "cult shows"....
This show definitely has something going on. I wasn't that pumped up after the first season, but it for sure had a unique quality.
Just started the 2nd season and it's kind of blowing me away! I love the main characters and actors. There is a lot of VERY intense action.
The question is if the main plot has any meat or substance to it. This was my problem with the 1st season. Looking for other opinions.

I like the show. I watched Season 1 when it first aired. Then, I re-watched it in prep for Season 2.
Season 2 is already on a good start, but I thought the Amazing Ganesh became pretty popular very fast. He already had merchandise and a cult following.

Tulip is one of the most annoying characters on a TV show in a long time. Both Tulip and Jesse's attempts at accents are painfully bad. Cassidy is funny though and this season is better than the first. I did get a big laugh out of the little girl spitting in Tulip's face and saying "I hope my daddy kills you." That was hilarious.

For some reason this show just isn't doing it for me, maybe I'm just too attached to the source material and that there are other shows out there that are out-doing it at what's striving for visually and tonally. It is not a bad show, but not the genre-bending, groundbreaker that it could have been.

It does feel like the moment for someone to make a standout Preacher show, or movie, might have passed in the 17 years since the book wrapped up. There have been several movies and cable shows that have covered the same thematic ground and have just done it better.
I really feel like they didn't quite get the central casting right. Jesse should be the Marlboro Man come to life (Basically one of the Friday Night Lights actors, or the like, an All American boy) Dominic Cooper is a charismatic, good looking guy, but he doesn't have that exact quality. Tulip's character and motivations are way off from the straight arrow we all knew from the book. On the other hand Cassidy, they pretty much nailed.

Her personality is ok but my issue is that she's a hot chick in the comic book and the actress they picked to play the roll is not hot at all which is disappointing. |

I know many fans of the comic don't like it. I have never read them and am just enjoying the ride! I have no problems with any of the cast.

I am not familiar with the source material at all, but I've been watching this show from the beginning and LOVE it. At times, Jesse and Tulip can be unlikeable, but at least there's always good ol' Cassidy. Love him!!
Last night's episode was fantastic.

I hope it stays on long enough to finish the story!! He already has. He banged Tulip and is being duplicitous and conniving in the hopes of breaking Jesse and Tulip up and having her for himself. Tulip is annoying as hell, not attractive as well as an opportunistic whore. It's pushing credibility that either of them would want to put up with her for very long. |

Pip Torrens as Herr Starr is simply brilliant. One of my all time favorite Characters.
