In terms of 'whole package' and importance to the business. It's true. Thoughts? Discuss

It would be either Ric Flair or Lou Thesz.
John Cena has been the top guy for a long time. It's too bad it's at such a low point of popularity for wrestling.

It's the low point in wrestling. And has been for over a decade and a half. And wrestling is still around. And Cena is still carrying the flag so to speak and he's the last legend left. I love Flair as much as the next guy - consider him Top 5 - but IMO Cena has surpassed in terms of importance in the sports entertainment industry.

He has been on top for a long time so in terms of longevity and star power that's a good argument. I also look at it in the sense of who the biggest household name is. Like do people that have never watched a wrestling match in their life know who the guy is. In that regard, I think the Rock is right up there as well.

The Hulkster was the man when I was a kid, no doubt about it. But this century has been all about John Cena.
'Something inside so strong I know that I can make it Though you're doing me wrong, so wrong You thought that my pride was gone, oh no There's something inside so strong Oh oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, something inside so strong ...'
Never give up!

The Rock
His personality alone is the greatest this business has ever seen.
The Undertaker
John Cena is for kids and adults who are retarded.

Maybe for the WWE, but not for wrestling. Plus, he's been number one in a company with no real competition.
Austin was more important because he helped bring back the WWF from financial ruin against the smackdown it was receiving from WCW.
Austin helped save a struggling company. Cena inherited a successful one.

Cena inherited a successful one. Not exactly. Business took a big downturn from 2002 - 2005.

True, but they didn't face the same threat they did when WCW was crushing them. While business was down from its most successful period up to that point, it wasn't as low as when they faced going under.
After 2002, they averaged a 3.5 in ratings. Before the rise of Stone Cold, they were averaging in the 2's, and even dipping into the 1's.
