And regardless of your answer to the original question, is it entertaining or disgusting (or both) to watch?

Last year I watched it all for the entertainment. This year I taped it and jumped through it watching the score for the sport. Doesn't gross me out unless someone barfs.

When Fink beat the stomach at camp Mohawk that was almost an athletic competition that may have belonged on ESPN had it been a couple of years later. But overall, I would say no and it's not something I generally want to watch

Whether you like it or are disgusted by it or watch it is irrelevant.
It's a real-time physical, competitive, scheduled event based upon eligibility requirements and competition rules, certified and monitored by a governing organization, and it has quantifiable scoring, results, and prizes. It's no less an individual sport than archery, bowling, or golf.
Providing a meme denying it is like saying it isn't because it violates your faith.

Yeah but the fact that it's a competition doesn't necessarily make it a sport.

Yeah but the fact that it's a competition doesn't necessarily make it a sport. It's also based on endurance, speed, and physical ability. Even if that ability is to avoid vomiting. What do race car drivers do? Hit the gas and shift and brake and turn and make decisions about when to fuel up.

It is a bit gross to look at, but it's a competition nonetheless.
I don't understand how people can stuff one hot dog down after another. You can suffocate by doing that. The human body wasn't meant to digest such a large amount of food that fast. I'm sure dunking them in water helps, but you're going to have health problems later on in life.

It's not something I would ever want to watch. I just don't see the entertainment value in it. It's disgusting

...gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins. On the other hand, it could be entertaining to see the disgusting aftermath experienced by the contestants...

It is a bit gross to look at, but it's a competition nonetheless. Yeah, but not a sport. A spelling bee is not a sport. Chess is not a sport.

It is a bit gross to look at, but it's a competition nonetheless. Yeah, but not a sport. A spelling bee is not a sport. Chess is not a sport. What are the physical requirements and limitations of those two? Vocalizing letters on time? Reaction speed to the move clock in a timed match? Look at bowling. The only thing they need to do is knock all the pins down in every frame. If they do that 12 straight times, the result is always the same.

By definition, it's a 'sport' but I have absolutely no interest in watching it.
