Marvel boss calls Avengers 4 the conclusion to 22-movie arc, Homecoming sequel to mark new period
The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming will kickstart a new chapter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the events of Avengers 4, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed.
Feige told the Toronto Sun that Avengers 4, which currently does not have a working title, would be the last installment in the current MCU. After that movie, Feige explained, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming will represent a new period for Marvel. It will help to kickstart a new MCU future with new superheroes for audiences to get to know.
“The original 22-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019, and then two months later it will be Peter Parker and Spider-Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there,” Feige said.SaveSaveSaveSave

So he says what we all knew. Contracts are running out and the new heroes will take over.
No news I think.

What will the new iteration look like? Will it be a continuation of the current universe? Or, will it be a new universe starting with new characters which then work their way back to recast versions of the old characters? SaveSave

Lead by Dr Strange, Spider-man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. Maybe the old heroes will get cameos or a supporting role even. But I guess it all depends on who is left standing after Infinity War II (Just calling it that untill they anounce the real title).

There are sequels to Guardians and Doctor Strange coming after all. I don't think that's really in doubt is it?
And it's not really an end to the MCU, just an end to this book if you will and it's not really even like nobody will resign. You're likely to get spot appearances by most of the actors even if they don't stay on full time.

I don't think there is any real debate about it honestly. They aren't going to completely reboot with obvious sequels for Spiderman, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and Guardians about to happen. It's just like a new chapter, that's all.

The confirmation doesn't matter just yet, they didn't sign on Benedict and set up Mordo to get one solo film out of him.

Yes otherwise the post credit scene in Doctor Strange would make no sense at all. And that is so not Marvel.

I just hope that Steve wields Mjolnir against Thanos!

Hard to believe that isn't too far away. Isn't it weird to think of 7 movies from now as "isn't too far away", but you're right I agree it feels that way. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of everything up until then.
