His performance was not bad at all if you're just looking at it in a general perspective.
As Lex Luthor, though, I didn't like him at all. I liked the movie as a whole, though.

yeah I see where you're coming from, I didn't hate his performance, but I thought it needed to be toned down.

It makes sense that people wouldn't like him as the character of Lex Luthor. He wasn't accurate to the comics in any way. But I really liked it anyways. It was so much different than we've seen before. I still love me some Michael Rosenbaum though. He was the perfect machiavellian businessman AND mad scientist.

I know he's not the typical Lex, but I felt like we have seen so many old evil guy in a suit villains, that making more of a modern tech billionaire was a great departure. We've had earlier versions of Lex, Obadiah Stane, Justin Hammer, Aldrich Killian, Darren Cross, Alexander Pierce... blah blah blah. I know people were hoping for classic Lex, but he would've been too similar to Bruce Wayne. He would've basically just been evil Bruce Wayne. We needed a "new money" version of Lex to go against the Wayne's "old money" style. I'm not a huge fan of MoS or BvS, but in my opinion, I think Snyder makes some great casting choices. I liked the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman when they were first announced. But I never iked the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Yeah I've never been a hater of Affleck. I didn't really know Gal Gadot when she was cast, but she's great! I didn't like Eisenberg's casting either when it was announced. I actually thought it was literally a joke. But I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, he wasn't the Lex we all know, but it was an interesting interpretation unlike we've ever seen. I even liked who they cast as Jimmy Olsen and I will forever be so disappointed, and honestly kind of sad, about what happened with him.

How do you feel about Joss Whedon being chosen to direct Batgirl? Still haven't heard from you on that.

This is why I was okay with Eisenberg's casting at first, and had he played Lex in the vein of his take on Mark Zuckerberg it probably would have been interesting. But what we got was less The Social Network and more Jim Carrey's Edward Nygma. Very odd that a scene with the founder of Facebook waxing poetic about giving lawyers his attention is more sinister than Lex Luthor threatening to burn Martha Kent alive.

Good for you then, in all seriousness. Glad you enjoyed it for what it was. He was one of the worst aspects of the film for me.

I think he could've worked if they made him more subdued.

He seriously deserved to win the all time Razzie. Even though I hated BvS, I thought that Cavill, Affleck, and Gadot did an amazing job. I like all of them as their characters, but Eisnenberg was dreadful in every way.

I usually dig Eisenberg in films but he was god awful as Lex. Just god awful all around. Not entirely his fault cause he was just following Snyder's direction . IMO Chris Pine would have been the PERFECT Lex . If you've seen Horrible Bosses 2 or Stretch , he was brilliant as the villains and can be so great at playing a smug prick. He shaved his head awhile back and I totally was getting Lex vibes from it haha.
