"There's somebody else here, there's somebody in the castle!"Having barely survived the tragic outcome of a recent accident, an American family on the brink of going to pieces, are suddenly given a last chance, as the head of the Reilly clan, John (Jeffrey Combs) is informed that he has just inherited an old castle in Italy. As a result, he believes that this is the moment which could help bring the family together again, by taking a nice vacation and stay at the family castle. But little do they know that it comes with a gruesome secret, one that is looking forward to greet the Reilly's a warm welcome. One of the finest achievements by Full Moon Entertainment made in the mid 90s, where cult-horror director Stuart Gordon brings along the talents of Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton (both Re-Animator and From Beyond) together again, in this chilling and highly entertaining horror adventure, which comes with a solid plot, lots of surprises, nasty special effects, a really well made atmosphere/locations, great music and one of the most scary looking creatures of the 90s monster genre, where Jonathan Fuller is creepy as hell as the "Castle Freak".

This was one of the very last DVDs I rented from Netflix before I unfortunately had to ditch my DVD account.
Though I only saw it a few years ago, I don't have much memory of it. Let's see what I remember:
1. There's a sex scene in underground castle passageways where you see breasts. Wow, I can't believe this is the main thing I remember about this movie. 2. There's a chase through a kitchen. 3. There's a local police officer doung an investigation. 4. There are some remnants of plot elements, but not enough to put into sentences. 5. I thought it was okay. I have a positive opinion of it. I'd watch it again, but it wasn't a film that made it into my "overlooked treasure" list.
You know, I mostly just remember the poster art, which I like very much.

Wow, I can't believe this is the main thing I remember about this movie. There might be a reason why, as it was a rather nasty/brutal one, well not the first sex scene itself but what came after, as Giorgio ends up taking the prostitute as his personal prisoner and he then tries without much luck, to copy what he witnessed went on earlier, to the poor woman he helds in his old dungeon cell. This was a really cruel and unpleasant part to watch.
