"Well, everybody has to eat shaving cream once in a while."The population of America has just one thing on their minds, and that is The Stuff! But not everybody seems to share the same kind of enthusiasm and craving over the tasty snack that makes people go crazy. Mo "Cause I always want Mo money!" Rutherford (Michael Moriarty), is one of those few sceptics, and that has been hired to take a closer look at America's new favorite food supply, and what secrets it might hide from the public. The Stuff by Larry Cohen, is his little horror-comedy take of the fast-food/diet industry and well, things that most people know is not good for them or their health, but they just cannot stop eating it, or is it eating them? Michael Moriarty stars once again, as he has done so many times in a Cohen production, and for me, I think this is his finest hour, as the smooth-talking, cowboy-detective version of James Bond, Mo Rutherford. Paul Sorvini stars as the hilarious Colonel Spears, that has his own private plans for the future of America: "The yellow sons of bitches, they took their own lives! Commie bastards, you cheated me!""I will permit this colored man to speak. But speak one word of the Commie party, or one word in code, and I will blow his head off."

Not a very good movie, but it's pretty fun and has some cool special effects. 7/10

7/10 I haven't seen it for a long time but I did see it a good amount of times when I was a kid. The effects a really cool. I always like the use a of more practical effects. Today it would just be cartoonist CGI. Plus I hear Mira Sorvino is somewhere in this film in a brief scene.

I loved it back in the 80's, killer yoghurt is a great idea! Moriarty is a good actor, apparently a total dick in real life, according to a friend who once worked on a movie with him. She was a production assistant and later switched careers to avoid people like him.

I am sad to hear about Moriarty being an a-hole, and that it affected your friend in such a bad way. Maybe he had a bad day, but still that is not an acceptable way of treating your fellow co-workers in anyway.
When it comes to the film I sure love these kind of cheesy/campy 80s horror-films and Moriarty was hilarious along with Paul Sorvino, these guys should have teamed up back then and made sequel.

Dumb. The cover art looks like a splooge overload. l I think that cover art is the best of all the DVDs and Blu-rays versions out there, I mean take a look of the some of the later ones, now that is a complete overload and then some: I like many of the films Arrow release, but their artwork are nine out of ten times awful and they should just have kept the original instead, but thankfully they do often come with a reversable artwork on the inside, but even then sometimes the second artwork is just as cheap looking as the first one. But, all in all, it is what's in on the inside that counts at the end of the day, or so they say.

Moriarty and Sorvino did team up again, although I really wouldn't consider TV's Law & Order a sequel to The Stuff!

Can't get enough... of the stuff!!!
Pretty fun 80s horror comedy. Moriarty is always an enjoyable actor to watch, and isn't Eric Bogosian onscreen for like two seconds in the supermarket?
