The first album I bought (or rather my mother bought for me) was a compilation of KC and the Sunshine Band songs.
What was your first album?

I really don't know. I suspect it was either by The Pet Shop Boys or Level 42. The only firsts I know for certain are that the first CD I bought was a Legendary Pink Dots album (I forget which), and the first 12" single I bought was The Pet Shop Boys "It's a Sin".

It was a promotional release with McDonald's around 1995.

One of my first. I think I got it on cassette tape.. Also a few others.. I also remember getting "Bone Thugs N Harmony, East 1999 / Eternal" at a pretty young age. Rap lol. At the same time I was really into Tom Petty. I guess my musical taste was all over the place just like it is today. I'm sure I had children's albums before all of those, but they don't really count lol.

I think the first bit of music I ever owned was a 45 that my parents bought for me.... Call Me by Blondie. The first cassette I bought for myself was Run-D.M.C.'s self-titled debut. The first cd I bought was Elvis Costello's excellent Girls Girls Girls compilation.

Was about 5 when this one came out. Was obsessed with the Olsen twins. Still had the cassette to this up until about 5 years ago. First album (and CD) I purchased with my own money.
