I've only seen up to the third movie so far. I'll watch the fourth tonight and go see the new one tomorrow.
This is a series that has really been dragged through the mud by people. Sometimes I can see why but for the most part I think it's undeserved.
Transformers 2007 was a good movie. It was a highly entertaining summer blockbuster with great effects and action scenes. Sam and Mikaela's relationship was done well and they were likable characters.
Transformers 2 was not so great. It had some good action scenes again but the humour was so bad in this one. I can understand why people hate on this one, I don't think it's as bad as some make out but yeah it ain't so good.
Transformers 3 was really good. That was the best one of the lot, the action and CGI was even better than the previous movies and while it still had some cringey humour there was a lot less of it. This was a really entertaining movie with some spectacular scenes.
There are far worse movies out there than Transformers. They get more hate than they deserve merely because they are also so popular.
There's a whole bunch of Resident Evil movies that are much worse than these and they don't get nowhere near the same level of hate because they don't make hundreds of millions.

Pretty much spot on with your description about the three movies. I myself have only watched the first three. I stopped the fourth one after 45 minutes. I couldn't endure it anymore. I have no plans of watching the fifth one. My one issue (among many) with the three movies is that they focus too much on Sam and not so much on the robots. 1st movie - Sam gets a new car 2nd movie - Sam goes to college 3rd movie - Sam gets a job 4th movie - Sam gets fired from the franchise! And it is natural for these movies to get more hate. They are big-budget movies based on a very popular cartoon series. So naturally the expectations are high and I don't think these movies have even come close to those expectations.

I actually didn't mind Sam. He was a bit too high strung at times but I liked seeing the progression be made as a character and his relationship with the Autobots.
I just watched Transformers 4 now.
Again it's really not that bad at all, it's not great but it's a decent and fairly entertaining summer blockbuster and that's probably all it was ever meant to be.
It didn't have nearly as much cringey humour this time but the story was kinda weak. I didn't care too much for the new characters and would have much preferred had it stayed with Sam.
Not as good as the first or third one, probably better than the second one.

The series does boast some excellent visuals and good action depending on the installment. I still really like the first one. The sequels range from average to awful then again, I've only seen two of them (ROTF and DOTM).

Anthony Hopkins is by far the best thing about the fifth. Otherwise it's a mess.

Well I'm going to be seeing it in an hour. They've brought a few characters back like Lennox, Epps and Simmons this time around. I'm glad they brought some back.

Saw it, once again it's not something that I could call a bad movie. I've seen drastically worse movies than Transformers 5, I thought it was mostly decent and entertaining enough.
It definitely wasn't one of the better ones, nowhere near as good as 1 or 3. About on par with 2 or 4. Possibly the worst one, not by a whole lot if it was.
The movies seem to be straying too far in the wrong direction. They're becoming too over the top for their own good.
It just started with Autobots Vs Deceptions and the military was involved.
Now theres Autobots Vs Deceptions, Ancient Knight Transformers, Creators, Unicron in the Planet Earth?, Merlin and Lancelot? Magic Staffs?
It's become too much. I think they should do one last movie with Unicron and then reboot it into something simpler once again.
