"I curse YOU! The Curse of the White Man from Town!"Billy Halleck (Robert John Burke) is an overweight lawyer who one day ends up accidentally killing an old women who turns out to be the daughter of the infamous gypsy leader Tadzu Lempke (Michael Constantine). As the city's police and leaders have never been much in favor of the traveling gypsies, Halleck gets off easy. But afterwards Billy is suddenly jumped by Lempke, who then brushes his hand over Billy's face as he whispers the word: "Thinner" to make sure that his daughters murderers are given the right kind of punishment, or at least that's how he sees it.One of many, many films made in the 90s that is based on a Stephen King novel, and for me, I think this is one of the better ones, as it comes with a great mix of comedy, horror and action, and some very solid special effects. Robert John Burke stars as Billy Halleck and I have only seen him in some TV-shows, Robocop 3 and I think it was called No Such Thing which looked like monster film, but turned out to be more a, meh kind of a, wasted opportunity (at least for that is), but I enjoyed seeing him as the likeable Billy, even though he is far away of some innocent guy, he still is a guy that I cheered for, which was really not that hard as he does come up against some truly nasty/evil people like the Lempke clan, and the head of the family, Tadzu played fantastic by Michael Constantine. Joe Mantegna as the trigger happy mafioso, Richie "The Hammer" Ginelli is a riot and he seemed to love every second of it too. Then you have the stunning 90s babe, Kari Wührer as the unforgettable gypsy babe, Gina Lempke who is just as nasty as her old man.

It's a fun movie. Feels a lot like a Tales from the Crypt episode.

Yes, it actually does, and along with The Frighteners which also was released that year, they both have that Tales from the Crypt feel to them, but I thought they were much better made than any of the Tales from the Crypt movies, which was enjoyable but not really all that great.

A fun Stephen King adaptation. This was the beginning of my Kari Wuhrer obsession!

Laughably bad, but sort of fun for that reason. By the time Joe Mantegna fires a machine gun at a bunch of gypsies it seems that it can't get any more absurd, and then it ends with people passing around and evil cherry pie. Seriously.

I haven't seen it since the 90s but it just occurred to me that Michael Constantine may be doing an Akim Tamiroff impression.
Thinnnah!!

This was filmed at and around where I grew up, so I have always had a soft spot for this one. This thread* has officially inspired me to do a re-watch.
*the Kari Wuhrer gif is really what did it.
