Middle Earth is a big place. The characters and locations are diverse and exotic. Yet, I still feel like there could be a game that captures the entirety of Middle Earth in an open world map. Lego Lord of the Rings did it on a small scale, and it worked okay, but I want the full experience.
Obviously, the map can't hold an entire world's worth of locations. They could make it to where the big locations (Minas Tirith, Rohan, Helms Deep, The Shire, Mines of Moria, Rivendell, etc.) are to-scale while the rest is toned down so travel is easier.
Do you guys think it'll ever even happen, though? How would you do it?

Wasn't Shadow of Mordor open world? The sequel is supposed to be bigger too.

They kinda did with Lego Lord of the Rings although granted the map isn't exactly massive, but it features the main areas.

The thing with Open world RPG's is you don't want to make the map too big because you'll have so much to add that it could potentially become a choir to play ( especially if the developer gets lazy and throws in useless collectibles ) So you wannabe smart with map layout. You also don't want to Get lazy with quests as well.
