I find it extremely interesting that there is all this hoopla over... the confederate battle flag from the USA Civil War, when it is still displayed in modern times, because it represented "Slavery", as some people claim... As well as the displaying of monuments which feature confederate generals... And yet... Some of the early USA presidents like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, & Ulysses S. Grant... who owned slaves, some while even as POTUS... still are celebrated by many, and are still emblazoned on USA Currency even today. That's right, I'll say it again... Our First POTUS, owned 317 slaves, many of those while in Office! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States_who_owned_slavesCould this one-sided view of history be because our schools choose to ignore that part of history when it comes to teaching our children? (I certainly don't remember hearing about those facts in My American History Class.)I think there needs to be a more balanced view of our history... If someone wants to point fingers at Robert E. Lee... Be sure to point a few fingers at George Washington too! But at the same time, I think it is more important that our society restrains their opinions when it comes to misplaced morality judgements against historical figures... because when you look at George Washington's time, the majority of USA Citizens owned slaves or had low wage servants... Don't get me wrong here, I am not saying that George Washington should have owned slaves... But how can he be wrong, when everyone thought it was OK, and it was the norm at the time... Just Something to think about...

Abraham Lincoln for a number of reasons.
1. He really did not care about slavery, but used it as a political tool.
2. He only married for money and political connections. He did not treat his wife well.
3. He dropped the ball with the Civil War. It was only about economics.

Feologild
I only listed three reasons; but I did not feel like writing a "long term paper" on Lincoln's faults.
