I've always regarded Top 5 in the past: 1. Hogan 2. Cena 3. Flair 4. Austin 5. Rock Fun debating 2 thru 5. Just watched this below clip on Savage - and it makes your jaw drop how talented he was and he was well before his time. Would anybody put Savage in their Top 5 of All-Time? This clip is great. Top 5....man he is right there, RIGHT THERE, but like you, I cant:
1. Hogan 2. Cena 3. The Rock 4. Flair 5. Austin 6. Piper 7. Shawn Michaels 8. Macho Man 9. Sting 10. Andre the Giant
My favorite top 5:
1. Jericho 2. Shawn Michaels 3. Utimate Warrior 4. Hogan 5. Mr Perfect
WM2: Macho Vs George Steele - Not the best, but I dont fault Macho for it.
WM3: Steamboat Vs Macho: Classic, an all time classic.
WM4: Man Savage was entertaining. Great WM matches. Macho and WM4, classic, all classic. Macho Vs Butch Reed Macho Vs Valentine Macho V One Man Gang Macho Vs Ted D
WM5: Macho Vs Hogan: Macho knew how to perform, one of Hogans better matches.
WM6: Macho & Sherri Vs Dusty & Sapphire - One of his weaker WM matches. Cant blame him again for it.
WM7: Macho Vs Warrior: ALL TIME CLASSIC, probably the Warriors best match ever (It's between this and Hogan Vs Warrior at WM6)
WM8: Macho Vs Flair: Another classic
WM10: Macho Vs Crush: Sad this was his last Mania, glad he got the W, but he put on better Manias:
So I go: WM7/4 especially the Ted Match/3/8/5/2/6/10

I'm having a very hard time making a top 5 list. There's just too many legendary guys. But Savage was great.

What pops out at me as you have Piper so high. Now I agree, he is an Icon and a Legend. I love Youtubing his old school stuff pre WWF - and I get he was instrumental in the WWF taking off being Hogan's nemesis ('Mania I). Is that why you have him so high - the nostalgia/respect factor and he was a game changer and instrumental for future heels to come? I just look at guys like Savage, Sting, Warrior, Hart - me personally I'd put them well above Piper but that's just this guy which always makes these debates fun. Anyway - back to Savage. People bashed late WCW. This is an epic clip. Mach had his 'Team Madness' with Viscious and Gorgeous George, etc - it was terrific. He was his psycho best. After winning the belt over Nash he comes out on Nitro the next night and challenges 'anybody'. This was Hogan's quasi turn from nWo Elite - to Hollywood Hulk Hogan after Hogan was away on hiatus for awhile - the crowd went thru the roof when Hendrix' Voodoo Child hit. Fast Forward to 5:00 minutes for the 'pop' of the crowd link: Savage Challenges Anybody

I felt he was still on top of his game in the late 90's or whenever it was. The guy could still go.

I felt he was still on top of his game in the late 90's or whenever it was. The guy could still go. i could never find the clip on Youtube. maybe it's on 'daily motion' - never visit that site. he comes back from a long hiatus 'juiced to the gills' with hair plugs and looks like a completely different human being. he's completely off the top psycho. it's not some balding thinned hair old man teaming with Hogan in purple and gold ridiculous outfits - the character was great. Sid Viscous came out of nowhere to attack Nash and became Savage's henchman - hence 'Team Madness' was formed - but i wish I could find that clip where Savage initially reappeared. i think he low blowed 'The Giant' out of nowhere and the commentators were in shock - 'Is that Savage?' - he looked like a completely different human being - i.e. the juice and hairplugs. his Spider-Man stuff and around that era was really out there. he looked like a completely different human being.

I remember it. It was a nice way of him returning. I guess in a way he reinvented himself which is good when people can do that late in their career. Ofcourse his 1980-1990 stuff was probably his best, but if he lost a step at that point it was probably just a half step.

Fast Forward to 5:00 minutes for the 'pop' of the crowd link: Savage Challenges AnybodyMaybe I did put Piper too high, I think he was one hell of an under-rated talent. His promos were legendary, I can see me though going Shawn/Macho/Sting/Piper. I think Im a tad biased, as for wrestlers, he did one of my favorite all time WRESTLER movies (Movies with wrestlers in them). I bet right now youre even saying the movie in your head, lol. "They Live," either that or the "Princess Bride," but, I go "They Live" because he was the star, Andre was more supporting cast. Piper and his interviews, were legendary. Jericho wouldnt have his show if not Piper. Pipers Pit opened doors. HBK has his own show, Brutus had his, Jericho had his, and without Piper, IDK if any of it happens. One thing also I love about Piper, heel or face, he could do either one. Now they change like every other week it seems, but back then not everyone could do it. Piper is imho a guy who was as good as a heel as he was face. Roster low on heels, Piper will do it. Low on faces, Piper will go face. He just knew how to play a crowd. Pipers promos with Snuka, he did commentary, Ill be honest, Im not a big "Bret" guy. I KNOW I KNOW! Personally, I preferred Owens work. Savage is an amazing talent. (- his awesome rap album....be a man, his Perfect tribute Ill fully admit, 100 percent guilty pleasure of mine), Whenever you heard Machos music, you knew a good match was gonna happen. I am one of the rare ones who actually got to record the Wrestling Classic: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wrestling_ClassicAmazing event, and Macho was one of those guys, he could go. 4 matches, no worries. He did it twice here and WM4. One regret I have, is sadly I was a WWF fanboy, and I regret it. When I got older, I tried nabbing any WcW PPV I could get my hands on. Macho had a good run in WcW too. I hated how Hogan always had to over-shadow him. (I respect Hogan for what he did for the business, but he was an 100 percent A class douche who didnt wanna put anyone over. Hogan Vs HBK match, was comedy gold to me. HBK, how he over-sold everything, lol, sorry going OT.) Man, seeing these guys go now one by one breaks my heart. Hennig, Rude, Warrior, Piper, Macho, etc etc. It's sad when you can turn on an oldschool PPV and literally half or more of the roster is dead.

Personally I don't think you put Piper high enough Maybe his in ring work wasn't the best in the world, but the dude was money and over like rover wherever he went. His '75-85 stuff was amazing. If you mostly caught him in the 90's, eh it was still Piper but it wasn't the same

Mount Rushmore
Bruno Hogan Austin Cena
They are more important but my favorite Mount Rushmore would be
SS Billy Grahm (Would have been Hogan before Hogan if VKM Sr hadn't made a promise to Backlund) Jericho (I believe he is the best heel/face/mic skill character) Edge (Close to above) Jimmy Valiant (The Valiant Brothers are my favorite tag team along with E & C but Jimmy was also great as a face single)

Man you all love to kiss Cena's ass! Seriously Mt Rushmore and you have Cena and not Flair? Cena sucks! His 5 moves of doom suck! He's a modern day Hogan without the charisma or the awesome villains. In fact wrestling today blows, I'll stick to watching golden age 80s - ruthless aggression era on the network
I suppose next you'll try to tell me how awesome Roman Reigns is? Give me a friggin break!

My older friends who love wrestling all seem to place Macho Man all-time top 5. They rank him as the real deal.

Now he is so fn PC, but sadly, like Hogan, he is the face of the WWE. Me personally, give me Chris Jericho, Flair, Mr Perfect, Shawn Michaels....sadly, if youre looking on biggest impact, Cena is there as much as you/I hate it. I showed my "top 10" and my PERSONAL "top 5" and it's different, insanely. Shoot, id rather watch a Miz promo > Cena promo.

Maybe I should do my top 10 1) Hogan (No denying he brought wrestling mainstream in the 80s) 2) Austin (Defined the Attitude Era) 3) The Rock (There with Austin, made the Attitude Era has crossed over to a huge movie star) 4) Ric Flair (The nature Boy Wooooooo) 5) Undertaker (Lived the business) 6) Macho Man Randy Savage (widely recognized by many who don't even follow wrestling. Larger than life personality) 7) Andre the Giant ( A legend also movie star in his own right. Princess Bride is a classic) 8) Rowdy Roddy Piper (from Piper's Pit to They Live, made a career on being the bad guy before it was cool) 9) Sting (The face of WCW) 10) Bret Hart (the excellence of execution, always put on great matches) Honorable mentions - Bruno Samartino, Shawn Michaels, Iron Sheik, Mick Foley, Ultimate Warrior Cena isn't even in my top 15. While he was good as a heel he's been stale for over 10 years. He's buried anyone else to protect his status and the dude just flat out sucks in my opinion.

In my eyes - Thuganomics Cena was an 'epic character'. Ton of heat like you said. He was wildly over and got a massive reaction - and truth be told - a lot of people don't like to hear this since they like to hate on Cena since it's 'cool' - he's rather talented on the mic. When he was feuding with 'The Rock' during their 'Road to Wrestlemania' and they would bring out 'Thuganomics Cena' - it showed how talented he was on the mic. If you don't think this is entertaining you're just a straight up biased Cena hater. link: Cena DESTROYS The Rock on the Mic

Cena needs to become a Hollywood Hogan type Character and lead a new stable, that's the only way he and wrestling err sports entertainment will become relevant again
