Agree, Ed Wood was well deserved. Enjoyed seeing him in 80s horror/sci-fi films such as Without Warning (1980), The Being (1983) and Cyclone (1987), but my favorite of his 80s horror roles was in Alone in the Dark (1982) as the truly disturbed figure, Byron aka Preacher, but I guess with dreams like this, it does not come as a surprise that he was a bit far out there:

Rest in peace, Mr. Landau.
Yes, he was wonderful playing Bela Lugosi in "Ed Wood" and definitely deserved that Oscar.
But, much like Stefan, I'll always have a special place in my heart for his performance as "Preacher" in "Alone in the Dark". He's so deliciously insane in that one.

As others have said here, Mr. Landau definitely deserved the Oscar for this performance in Ed Wood.

He lived a long life with many successes and happiness, still sucks that he's now gone though.

Glad we get to keep seeing him on film and tv.
Seemed like a nice man but he could sure play evil ! (NxNW!)

Especially sad to me. He was a somewhat distant relative of mine, though I've never met him, but I also consider Ed Wood as my standard answer for my favorite film ever. A lot of that is due to the exemplary performance Landau gave as Lugosi. It's really great work within a great career if many classic films.
