I bet you can find random other players that didn't take part in the HR Derby who have similar numbers since the break. The derby has been know to mess with some guy's swings. Bobby Abreu never recovered. Thome slumped for a while. Pudge and Ortiz had power outages post derby. I just think it takes a while. Maybe with all the launch angle data they can get back on track quicker. |

Yeah I've heard that, I just don't think it's cause for alarm. Guys slump over the course of the year for a lot of different reasons. If it hasn't happened to every single contestant there's no way to prove definitively that it's an issue. Either way I think they'll both be fine. Being a Red Sox fan, a Judge slump isn't the worst thing I can imagine.
Baseball isn't going to stop doing the HR Derby, it's one of the few draws they have outside of the playoffs. And you're right, the analytics people will figure it out sooner rather than later and the players will be able to find their groove again post-derby.

not including the all-star game (0-3 with 1 K) 1-18 (a single), 6 K's got robbed of a homer last night at that 'carnival' 'busch league' park - i'm sorry - if your park has dimensions like a maze and an outfield wall coming up to a players chest - it's sort of a joke. what are the dimensions of Fenway compared to other parks out there? anybody know off the top of their head? (I know i can google this folks - figured maybe some of you may already know this) i look at highlights from games played at Fenway and it looks like i can knock it out of the park if the wind is blowing out  |

Not only is it pretty short, but it's a perfect wind tunnel even on calm days in that direction. |
