Not enough baseball discussion here. Right in the heart of the season, what does everyone think?
Trade deadline approaching, what does it look like for your teams? I hear lots of rumors about the Fish trading a lot of people, I really hope we don't trade Stanton, Yelich or Bour, those guys are really good players. We just need decent pitching and we would have a good team, but our front office is a disaster. I hope Loria sells the team by the end of the year.

I'd be absolutely stunned if Yelich or Stanton went anywhere. Yelich is locked up through 2022 at a very reasonable price tag, the Marlins would be insane to unload that type of commodity (a 25 year old who has been nothing short of terrific and who is only now entering his prime).
Stanton's contract is just too huge to move right now when he's locked up through 2020 when he can opt-out. He's a premier power hitter for sure but he would require a franchise-changing level of prospects in return, a real mortgaging of a team's future, to get him (and probably the Marlins eating a piece of the contract). Can it happen? Sure, I just don't think it will.
For the Mets, Jay Bruce, Asdrubel Cabrera, Curtis Granderson, Neil Walker, Lucas Duda and Addison Reed are all on the block. Of those, I think only Reed has real value, contending teams can always use dependable arms in the back of the pen to protect those precious one-run leads. Jay Bruce would have more value if there was a demand for corner outfielders but there doesn't seem to be much out there right now. He'll be a dump for a later-round prospect. The rest of the lot have virtually zero trade value. They're all unrestricted FAs at the end of the year and they're all a combination of always hurt and/or always shitty.
Lucas Duda fucking sucks, he's the most un-clutch player of all time. I can't wait for him to be off the team where he can take 2-0 meatballs down the middle before softly popping out to second base for someone else.

Dodgers are still tearing the league up, approaching 70 wins. Cubs have won 6 in a row, unbeaten after the All-Star break.

Dodgers are playing totally out of this world, everyone on their team is playing great. They do have a deep lineup and some very talented players but I just don't think they can keep this up. Alex Wood 11-0 with a 1.67 ERA, Justin Turner hitting 370? They are not going to sustain that momentum IMO but they are World Series contenders.

Fish just traded our best reliever, David Phelps to the Mariners for 4 minor leaguers. Don't like getting rid of our best relief pitcher, we need minor league depth but we shouldn't have traded our best reliever, another bad move by the idiots who run this organization. I hope Loria sells the team soon, he is the worst owner in pro sports. We have some talent right now, I just hope we don't trade the whole team again.

Yeah he sucked in April but has been very good since, he was brilliant last year. I will miss him, but I like getting 4 minor league prospects since our farm system is depleted, so not a bad trade overall, might be good in the long run.

Brew is going flat in Milwaukee. Lost five in a row, now getting beat by the Phillies. And the Cubs and Pirates are getting hot.

Let's talk trade rumors!!
I just saw on rotoworld that the Cubs (and apparently other teams) have called the Mets about Seth Lugo. What we've seen this year is that when you're built on starting pitching the way the Mets are, you need as many bodies as you can so trading away a starter may seem counter-intuitive. That said, I'm not against unloading a guy when his value is high especially given that Lugo has had nothing but arm troubles in recent years. Plus, all that "all-time leader in curveball spin" nonsense is just that...nonsense. The guy is a good pitcher, nothing more. If the Cubs want to unload a 3B or 2B for him, then you have my vote.

Dodgers and Astros are smoking the league.
Astros = 67 wins Dodgers = 70
Could we be seeing a head on collision course? Im a Houston fan, we never won a world series. It be nice to finally fn get one.

It be nice to finally fn get one. Astros are kind of a remarkable story. The 2011-2013 Astros had the 2nd worst run in baseball history, only better than the 1962-1964 Mets. When you look at the historical team records of bums like the Philly A's, the Phillies, the St. Louis Browns, the Boston Braves, that's pretty amazing. And pepole say its easy to rebiuld now with the draft. But the 'Stros had three straight #1 picks and made a hash out of two. Carlos Correa in 2012, well done. Then Mark Appel in 2013. Traded to Philadelphia, Appel could be the third #1 overall never to see the majors, and the first who couldn't blame it on injury. Imagine if the Astros had taken Kris Bryant. Then in 2014, they take Brady Aiken, who they couldn't sign.

It be nice to finally fn get one. The Astros have been awesome, no question, but they'll need to nab another starter at the deadline. Keuchel hasn't pitched in two months and McCullers has been dreadful his past few starts; he's still young you have to wonder how much gas he'll have in the tank as we get closer to playoff time. Even though playoff games are won and lost via the bullpen, you don't want to be playing catchup more often than not in a short series. They should be doing what they can to get into these Sonny Gray/Yu Darvish talks, event though it would represent an intra-division trade.

Rafael Devers hits a HR in his 2nd game. Kid has a sweet swing. I'm hoping the Red Sox keep him.

Keuchel is returning this Friday which is huge for the Astros. It would be nice for them to pick up another good starting pitcher but I don't think it is necessary, they have Keuchel, McCullers, Charlie Morton, Mike Fiers, Brad Peacock and Collin McHugh is back now, so they are fairly deep. What hurts the Astros is Correa being out until September, he is a great player and while he should be back for the playoffs it hurts losing him. Fortunately they have Marwin Gonzalez who is having a very nice year who can play SS as well as several other positions. They are a very deep team all around, every night they have guys on the bench that would be regular starters on a lot of other teams. I think they are WS bound, it would be nice to see them get back their after being so awful just a few years ago.
