Grating pop stars on GOT, now? Looks like your precious show has "sold out."

It's not the first time. Will Champion from Colplay appeared as one of the musicians in the Rains of Castamere.

Sheeran was the first one I recognized. Bad choice, I thought. Took me out of the show.

Bronn was a pop star and he's fantastic.
Honestly I didn't know what Ed Sheeran even looked like until the rumors came out about his cameo in GOT. So it didn't really bother me at all. Coulda been anyone and I wouldn't have cared.

It was the one downfall of the episode...including someone so mainstream from today's putrid music.

I don't know who the fook he is, but even of I did, it wouldn't have bothered me. "Celebrity" guest stars never do.

I read on FB last night he had deleted his Twitter account w/in 24 hours of the episode airing. People going too far, as usual, in expressing themselves.

It's not the first time. Will Champion from Colplay appeared as one of the musicians in the Rains of Castamere. I thought that was kind of cool actually, but this is not. I think the difference is the Coldplay drummer didn't have any speaking lines and was barely noticeable. The camera paid more attention to Ed Sheeran and he had lines of dialogue. It took me out of the show for a minute.

It was far more like a cameo appearance than stunt casting.
If this bothered someone about the show, then everything should have bothered them about the show.

I think people care about this because they know who he is. I have never heard of him and had no idea who he was. Therefore, I enjoyed the scene. It was one of the better scenes of the episode.

I know who Sheeran is, and I liked the scene. He looks like he could be a character populating the GoT world. He had fewer lines than the other Lannister soldiers, and he didn't dominate the scene. It was an extremely low key cameo.
Also, Sheeran has good will with me for doing that fantastic song "I See Fire" on the Hobbit soundtrack, and for being a fan of fantasy stuff. Not a fake, annoying fan who got into GoT within the last year because it's so popular, but a fan who grew up reading shit like LOTR and isn't an asshole.
The Coldplay cameo bothers me a lot more because Coldplay is shit and that appearance smacks of an agent saying, "Yeah, do the cameo, it'll make you seem more hip with the young kids!" Also, the Red Wedding isn't an appropriate scene for a celebrity cameo.
