Johnson easily. His episode of Breaking Bad is better than anything Ron Howard has ever done, plus the latter stepped on the toes of two far more interesting choices. As for Trevorrow, at this point I'm wondering if he will even make it to the third.

I also voted for Rian Johnson although I have actually never seen any of his previous work. I have heard good things about "LOOPER" though!

Rian Johnson. I was clamoring for him to direct a Star Wars film since the beginning Disney announced they were making Episode VII, and my wish came true. He's gotten a lot of praise at the Star Wars Celebration and in the behind-the-scenes footage reel shown at the D23 Expo so I hope he lives up to the hype.

I have a video message for unproven directors Rian Johnson and Colin Trevarrow.

Hey, I think that Colin Trevorrow proved himself with "JURASSIC WORLD".

Hey, I think that Colin Trevorrow proved himself with " JURASSIC WORLD". JW is like Bay's Transformers, an awful movie that earned a lot of money solely from the brand name. Not proven to me at all, artistically.

I would never have thought I'd say this, because he doesn't seem like the kind of director one gets excited about, but easily Ron Howard. Let's face it, he's by far the strongest of the three, and hasn't let us down for a long time now - if you don't count the Dan Brown movies, which clearly weren't his fault.
I'm dreading Rian Johnson's take on the material; judging from Looper, I suspect he decided to direct the next Star Wars film mainly because he was worried someone might otherwise enjoy watching it. Do we really need his depressed, lifeless take on the material?
And Colin Trevorrow strikes me as at best a competent journeyman, which is what I think Ron Howard is most of the time, only a much better one.

It's going to take a miracle for this fool to pull off a good Star Wars movie.
