Only read The Great American Novel, which was awesome, and The Plot Against America which was good but my interest flagged towards the end.

I've read quite a few, and I think that he's one of the few modern novelists whose work will be remembered and read for a long time to come. Sabbath's Theatre and The Human Stain are probably the two I enjoyed the most, and they show how much he can change his style and subject matter between novels. The former is about a vicious, vulgar, misogynistic character, told with the kind of bluntness and lack of restraint that would make Irvine Welsh blush. A less likeable protagonist than you normally expect to encounter. The Human Stain is a more staid, respectable affair concerning race, sexual politics and transgressing society's moral rules. All set around the life of a quietly respectable university professor.
I agree with you about The Plot Against America, I think he found the premise intriguing, but I'm not convinced it was intriguing enough to hang a whole book on.
