Not a fan of the band by any means, but that's really sad. Especially considering he had a wife and 6 children.

That's a showstopper I wasn't expecting. I really love a couple of their songs. So sad.

Not a fan of Linkin Park, but this is really sad. He had his demons and sadly, they have won. RIP.

And oddly enough, today is his friend Chris Cornell's birthday. I can't confirm if he hung himself today or yesterday though. R.I.P.
Linkin Park and others like Deftones, Incubus and System of a Down were carelessly lumped into "nu-metal" in the early-00s but were much, much more than that. Cheers to the music he made and the good guy he was.

Sad but can't say I'm too surprised considering the angst in his lyrical content.

Sad but can't say I'm too surprised considering the angst in his lyrical content. I think I almost finished one of his songs once.

First I had a few musicians I always liked.
As a LITTLE LITTLE fry, it was Phil Collins. (Like 9-15).
When I hit 16-19ish, I went for Limp Bizkit (Cant stand them today), Eminem (Still like him, not as much), Kid Rock (F*** him and his shitty white trash crap he makes now), lots of different rappers and rock bands, and Linkin Park, who were my favorite band.
From Hybrid Theory (Great) Meteora (Great) MtM (Great) A Thousand Suns (Didnt like) Living Things (Great) Hunting Party (Great) One More Light (Insanely disappointed)
I figured, ehh they disappointed me with ATS, so itll be okay, theyll come back. Well, I get a text from my gf,"Chester Bennington died." Im thinking, nooooooo, check google and he hung himself. Well biscuits.
I mean it's one of those things I grew up with. Kid Rock changed and is a douche rocket, Fred as I got older I realized how big of a pr!ck he was, Eminem is still okay but his entire accent bs was irritating af. Even though LP disappointed me with 2 albums, they always had LPU stuff, with some good songs like Qwerty, Standing in the Middle, Across the Line, Fear, Pretend to be, White Noise, Last Line, Step Up, So Far Away, And One, High Voltage, Carousel, Part of me, and a lot of their hybrid theory songs were released as demos (IN the end with Mikes lyrics insanely changed and Rain Drops aka Crawling, with a verse from Mike in it.) Grey Daze/Dead By Sunrise/Stone Temple Pilots/Linkin Park.
So yea, this kind of blows, wasnt expected at all. I mean, when is death expected I guess, but it blows he didnt think about 6 kids he had. Depression is a b!tch man, Ive dealt with it, it isnt fun. Bi Polar blows but you gotta work through it. It just shows that old saying,"money doesnt buy happiness." It makes it a lot easier, but it wont buy it.
I get some people, it isnt their music, and I respect that. While they changed musically, I always felt Mike and Chester FOR THE MOST PART, stayed humble. (A few quotes are irritating, like Chester telling fans we will never be like Hybrid Theory again get over it), but for the most part, seemed humble, especially Mike. In the end, Chester was a massive part of LPark.
I guess in the end (No pun intended) Leave Out all The Rest has more meaning now. Sad $hit.

I was on my way back from the hospital yesterday when this was announced on the radio.
My response was....oh, wow.
On the way into work this morning, it was mentioned again, along with that Chris Cornell's birthday was yesterday.
It was just a coincidence between the two incidents. That's all.

Very sad news. Hybrid Theory and Meteora are awesome albums. And What I've Done could quite possibly be the greatest rock song of all times. Depression is such a serious problem these days and it makes me mad that no one is doing anything about it. Being sad and then moving on while you wait for the next suicide is just not good enough. Most of these deaths could be avoided if society stopped being such ignorant idiots.
