m.mlb.com/news/article/243127660/taking-a-look-at-majors-best-irony-jerseys/Nice article by Joe Posnanski about MLB players in uniforms you don't remember them donning. Not so much for some, everyone remembers Peter Edward Rose playing for the Expos. But I completely forgot Dale Murphy in Colorado and Kirk Gibson in Pittsburgh. But I've always thought of an "irony jersey" ans another animal. A Royal fan getting a custom jersey of Buddy Biancalana or a Pirates Mario Mendoza shirt is an irony jersey

Does a Sixers jersey of Andrew Bynum count as an irony jersey? Or more like a pathetic jersey?

Pretty cool article, but, I thought everybody knew that Willie Mays finished with the Mets.

Babe as a Brave is only common knowledge once you know it. When I first saw a photo I was floored.
Mays on the Mets is maybe the most well-known.
Pedro on the Phillies sickens me.

Pretty cool article, but, I thought everybody knew that Willie Mays finished with the Mets. People always talk about Mays with the Mets as embarrassing and washed up. At age 41, he was .267/.402/.446 with an .848 OPS for them. At 42, sure, only .211/.303/.344 with a .647 OPS. So .238/.352/.394 .746 OPS as a Met, with 404 total at bats, and 14 HR. How horrible.

Always a great game to play: was he or wasn't he a Padre?
Among those who were Padres:
Al Martin: 93 games Bret Boone: 127 games John Mabry: 48 games Heathcliff Slocumb: 22 games Ray Lankford: 121 games Ron Gant: 102 games Rondell White: 115 games Gary Matthews Jr: 126 games Lou Merloni: 65 games Charles Nagy: 5 games Jesse Orosco: 42 games Rich Aurilia: 51 games Jeff Cirillo: 33 games Darren Bragg: 9 games Ismael Valdez: 23 games Eric Young: 112 games Pedro Astacio: 12 games
Those are only the guys from 2000-2005!

Not a worldwide mystery, yet my fav in this lane has always been Nolan Ryan winning a WS title with the '69 Miracle Mets.
Mike Piazza - Marlins Olli Jokinen - Maple Leafs Doug Flutie - Patriots Hakeem Olajuwon - Raptors

It just killed me seeing Roger Maris in a Cardinals uni after the Yanks traded him in 1967.

My dad complained for literally decades after the Cardinals traded Carlton to the Phillies ( because they refused to pay him a salary of $50,000! )
