How many goals would he score per season in the modern game? I doubt he'd break 50 most seasons.

In today's game he'd be Crosby, but with more goals.

I think if Gretzky played against 10 defensemen and two goalies, he would scored 50+ a season. He had the largest set of intangibles that any top athlete had in any North American sport. He was smart. He could anticipate an opponents move as if he had a crystal ball. Bobby Orr said he was the greatest pure passer he ever seen. He had surprising strength for a small guy.

Goalies wearing wussy giant pads these days would curb anyone's totals, skill or no skill.
80's Gretzky would probably still average about 40 goals & 80 assists a season. Then again, clutching & grabbing is called all regular season long unlike when he played... he would find ways.

These replies are hilarious. Because.......? Although, his gear would be a lot more than what he wore in the 80's, not least of all his paper thin Jofa helmet. At the end of the day I really don't think about this much.
