What do you think they should do?
I think they should stay pat, maybe call up Devers if he's the goods, but don't want to rush him. Getting anyone good is going to cost. I'd rather they not give up a ton.

I'm torn on promoting Devers. He's tearing up AAA but I don't want to rush him. He's the future at 3b for the next 10 years. And I'm getting nervous as the trade deadline looms. I'm hearing rumors of blockbusters, Miguel Cabrera, Giancarlo Stanton. Dombrowski doesn't like prospects. I'd hate to see the future mortgaged for a playoff run this year, a playoff run I don't see going as far as winning the WS. Not with a dodgy rotation past Sale.
As far as 3b goes, I'd pick up a cheap rental and platoon that player with Deven Marrero. Marrero can't hit his way out of a wet paper sack, but he's got a great glove.
One Red Sox player that could help, not at 3rd, is the long forgotten Rusney Castillo. He's hitting .300 at Pawtucket, albeit an empty .300 (7 walks in 289 PA, jeez, I could do better). And he has some power.

Can't link it, but the Red Sox are promoting Devers. If he can hit, problem solved. And Marrero can be the defensive replacement and give him days off.
If he's not ready, he's another Blake Swihart.
