Secondhand bookstores have died a natural? Including charity shops? That's where I got 95% of my library from when I was younger. That awesome feeling when you've diligently checked every book on three racks and find something good for 20p.

i have borrowed books from a library and never returned them. I have done this, though not purposely. When I was going through all my books about 4 years ago, I found about a half dozen library paperbacks I'd never returned, mostly from the 80s. At that time they didn't track them, just the hardbacks.

Just once I've kept a library book and that was when I was a kid. It got lost because I took it on vacation with me. I later found it and mailed it back because we had moved to another state. I felt so guilty.
