Would like some thoughts on this from hardcore baseball and hockey fans that love MLB and the NHL.
I'd argue I love college football and college basketball more than the NFL and NBA.
I can't get enough of either - and I still love the pro game as well.
I'm a baseball fan and do 'enjoy' hockey although it is a distant 4th (sadly - I used to be glued to the TV watching 'The Legion of Doom' on the Flyers) and I seem to be distancing myself from the sport further and further over the years.
Are any of you MLB/NHL fans avid viewers and fans of the college game as well? If so, why?
I don't think I've sat through one college baseball or college hockey game.
What separates football and basketball from baseball and hockey?
And I'd argue baseball is my favorite sport; however I just never got the intrigue of the college game.
Any opinions on why we're rabid over football and basketball but not hockey and baseball?

Anyone who watches college sports and isn't a student isn't a sports fan.

Anyone who watches college sports and isn't a student isn't a sports fan. Interesting - what would say about March Madness - which is arguably the most popular 'playoff' in all of sports - and that includes Pro. Now - I didn't say the Championship game even comes close to rivaling the Super Bowl - however I'm stating the 'tourny' i.e. 'playoff in the pros'. I'd argue a lot of 'casual fans' can give a crap less about the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB playoffs if their team isn't it - however March Madness is an event! I'm the type of guy who can watch an SEC game (not even from down there) on a Saturday night of Tennessee Vs. Florida in regards to college football on a September night, with over 100,000 people going ape and crazy and be glued to the TV - but if you give me the Jacksonville Jaguars Vs. the Tennessee Titans the next day in the NFL - I could care less and won't watch a snap. It's why this intrigues me. I know there's some out there who love the college game more than me; however I've never been drawn to college baseball or hockey - and I'd argue baseball and the Phillies are my favorite team

March Madness is around for your girlfriend to fill out a bracket and feel included. Interesting. What do you think about that same chick that will fill out your March Madness Bracket - but she watches 'hockey' because of the 'fighting'. Do you consider her a sports fan?

Canadian Hockey League trumps anything the NCAA can ice. Baseball? The only time I see anything about NCAA is in my MLB preview issues which have been ranking colleges for what seems like barely any reason.
