It's only a fallacy because it proves you wrong. Thanks for living up to your own low effort of debate. Incorrect again. American Psycho, Monster, Dracula, The Lieutenant, Taxi Driver, heck, even The Shining focuses on the villain. Raptor, you are just embarrassing yourself now. You need to broaden your movie watching habits. They're too limited. Except it doesn't prove me wrong. Thanks for living down to your own low effort of debate. Actually, I'm still correct. And now you've committed the fallacy of failing to realize that there is a very real difference between having an evil protagonist and lazy/incompetent writing that allows a villain to overshadow the hero in their own story. Actually, you're just embarrassing yourself. My watching habits have taken me farther than yours'. For one thing, I've actually read the books the above are based on, whereas you're just an illiterate trapped with the inferior film versions. Raptor, please. Everyone knows you don't read.

Those movies are all about the villain being the protagonist to begin with... That's my point. It all depends on how and what kind of story the creator wants to tell. You seem to have forgotten we're talking about superheroes. Of course, you were more concerned with having the last word and trying to outdo me rather than put together a coherent argument from the beginning, anyway.

It's over, son. You don't understand there's more than one way to tell a story. And yours is not the end all be all. Everything you've stated has been proven wrong by people far more qualified to judge movies.

If you were really going to try proving me wrong at this point, you'd just stop replying altogether. You can keep saying you've proven me wrong, but you haven't. At all. Again, having an evil protagonist is not the same thing as having a filmmaker who just doesn't understand the main character and does nothing with them. Better luck next time.

Hopefully they don't fuck up Thanos though. One of my biggest complaints regarding MCU films , is the way they waste or misuse their villains . No, they don't. They're just not the stars of the films. That's a HUGE understatement. The villains are inconsequential. I'm glad you can admit that mcu movies are lacking in any tension at all. Perhaps when I was a child and seeing the good guy being in danger made me anxious I would have enjoyed silly fart jokes and nothing really happening. To be honest though, even when I was a kid I knew what a crappy movie was and I didn't like it when everything was too easy for the good guys. Sadly I guess the mcu target audience prefers that nothing scary or even unpredictable ever happen.

And if the creator wants to tell a story where the villain totally overshadows the protagonist, it means they had no faith in the protagonist to carry the film on their own. Laziness.

The weird, arbitrary, and dichotomous thought swirling around this thread amounts to so many fallacies and bizarre rhetorical trenches it's mind-numbing. I read this thread while eating lunch and was grateful I opted impulsively for a couple slices of pizza to liven up a dull work day because if I'd had either a knife or a fork in my hand -- or within reach -- I would've stabbed out my eyes.
Good grief, you guys.
raptor, you're better than this. Caleb and Jerk, you guys have the patience of saints.

I have to roll my eyes at this mentality that making The Joker the main character of Batman (1989) was ever anything more than Tim Burton's own lack of appreciation for the Caped Crusader.

I'm not getting sucked into the swirling vortex of this circular argument you're strangely stuck on since it just goes nowhere; we'd be better off arguing about, like, abortion or the Israelis and the Palestinians. You know? So, you read any good books lately? You see any cool (non-MCU) movies?

I really like their villains and don't know who has been wasted or misused. They've done well as far as I can tell. Alexander Pierce, Ego, Red Skull, Loki, Obediah, Vulture, Dormammu, and even the fun ones like Yellow Jacket, or Ronan and Malekith were awesome universe expanding fun guys to follow with immense power. Love that stuff.

Loki is perfect, red skull is perfect, vulture is perfect, ultron, zemo, pierce, kingpin, winter soldier, iron monger, yellow jacket. Maybe they refer to the greatly underrated malekith or to the twist with the mandarin. Who knows what constitutes a good comic book villain? Maybe the joker or doctor octopus? Those seem to be the go to villains...

He's a force of nature and it was epic to watch if you ask me.

I've also just gotten my hands on the Classic Godzilla box set recently.

You're not going to find a bigger film than Infinity War. I don't think every Marvel film is perfect and probably will even skip a few if I ever do like a marathon, but regardless, they've been building up to Infinity War and with every release of a new film, they could have easily derailed the franchise, but they've always been consistence and are well-liked, and as if you have enough characters from just the Avengers, they're also bringing in the Guardians So they're going to have meaningless 30-second cameos from about 4 dozen characters? Based on the trailer, IW looks like it's going to be a complete mess.
