Bonus points if that character is 'sports related'. Any 'True Detective' fans out there from Season 1. Matthew McConaughey plays 'Rustin Cohle' - a detective - a tortured soul just looking for happiness struggling with inner peace - and he's a complete badass. link: True Detective - Rustin CohleSports related - I'm going 'Roy Hobbs' from 'The Natural'

All time movie sports related, Gene Hackman in Hoosiers, Walter Matthau in The Bad News Bears, Tom Berenger in Major League. Awesome. Walter White IMO has the greatest character arc of anyone in TV history. Love that show. Own it. Still get marathons going. To see a 'dorky' chemistry teacher get diagnosed with cancer and contemplate/struggle with how he's going to support his family when he's gone - and then turn to cooking Meth - and then let his ego get the best of him since he loves the power and money - it was just great TV for years upon years. Cheers - own that as well - love the concept of a struggling alcoholic and pitcher for the Sox who gave up drinking and owned a bar - 'where everybody knows you're name. Homer - well - no need to toot his horn - there's a bit of 'Homer' in us all. 3 of my favorite characters as well

Bugs Bunny Fox Mulder Angel/Angelus I'm a giant 'Horror' Dork. I never gave the X-Files a chance and I'm willing to bet I would have liked it. How many episodes of the X-Files would you say bordered on Horror as opposed to 'Sci-Fi'. There had to be at least a handful out there over the years correct? Call me crazy - but I think I remember an episode revolving around a 'wolf like' character - i.e. 'The Wolf Man'

Capt Mainwaring, Dad's Army. only Brit comedy i remember watching is 'faulty towers' (spelling?) as a kid for some reason my parents would have Brit comedies on BBC on Sunday nights i've owned the 1st season of 'the office' (brit version) for years - but have yet to give it a watch (and i like that actor too - his name escapes me right now)

Fawlty Towers, yeah classic show.
Ricky Gervaise is the chap in The Office. It's an decent enough show. The US version was pretty good too.

When I say I love DV, I am referring only to the bad guy in black armor, and I am only saying that because I have been in awe of him since the age of 7. I am not saying he is a complex or well acted character. My love for him long predates the development of my critical thinking skills.

So I guess it's like my love for Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Pinhead, Freddy, Leatherface, etc etc.....

Look, I saw those movies as a kid and when Darth Vader made his entrance down that white corridor in STAR WARS, the audience would boo and hiss. It was a good time at the movies. But then after all three came out and Darth Vader was simply misunderstood I went and saw the re-releases of some of them....and no more fun at Vader's entrance. No booing, no hissing. And you could feel that the audience felt cheated, robbed, a good time was taken away from them by George stupid Lucas. Turning Vader good really fucked up that first movie. Let's be real here: George Lucas is the biggest schmuck that ever walked planet Earth. He had the quintessential villain, the greatest film villain of all time...and he turned him into a decent guy?!? How fucking stupid is that? Oh, the Emperor was the real bad guy. A guy we saw for twenty minutes in that third original film was really the bad guy. All the evil that Vader did in the first two films - he killed Alec Guinness remember -- we were now told we should overlook. Vader was really a decent guy. Incredible. No booing, folks.

That's 2 mentions of 'A League of Their Own' in this thread. I love Tom Hanks too. I never gave the movie a chance. I never gave Million Dollar Baby a chance either and finally gave it a watch a few months back and loved it. Maybe I'll have to do the same with A League of Their Own. I've got to pick up the full series of The Sopranos at one point. I just have Season 1. Great character - loved how they showed his weaknesses even though he was a tough mob boss which is what made the show great.....

Yeah - After Jedi was over - I mean what else was there to be done? The ultimate bad guy turned good. I'm the biggest wrestling dork out there. Love a good storyline. Story of someone turning good to evil - evil to good - I'm in. Hulk Hogan's heel turn is talked about to this day. link: Hogan Joins the Dark SideBut after Vader swerved 'face/good' and then died - what else was to be done with the series ? story was pretty much told in my eyes

This Darth Vader turning good was one of the worst things to happen in man's history. I only saw the original in 1977 and hated it so much, that the only one I saw after that was Phantom (my kid pleaded for me to take him). I liked Phantom better, though it wasn't exactly good. Glad jar-jar pissed off so many people. They got to feel my reaction to C3P0.
