What are some things in movies in which you disagree with the popular opinion?
For example, I like the Special Editions of Star Wars better than the originals. I honestly don't care who shot first.
I like The Exorcist III better than the original.
I don't think Michael Bay is as bad a director as everyone says. The Rock and both Bad Boys films were awesome.
Anyone else?

The Untouchables (1987) blows due to crummy direction. It's also one of De Niro's worst performances. Sean Connery is by far the best thing about the movie.

Braveheart is shite
Whilst a good film, Wonder Woman is far from exceptional

Quantum of Solace is a very good Bond film.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is on par with Temple & Crusade, being a lot more fun than the latter.
Superman III isn't awful, not when we get Bizarro Superman, Reeve showing solid range.
Batman Forever is a solid flick, being that it is essentially a cartoon Batman rather than a graphic novel Batman.
re. Star Wars SE is fine with me. While GL stated they were technical dry runs for the PT, there is more good about them (cleaning up effects & colour, wide locale shots) than not (sprinkling bg characters just for fun). ROTJ's Jabba dance is terrible, not sure wtf they were thinking there. The main gripe is the originals simply aren't available anymore - the films as they were in 77, 80, & 83 no longer exist.

I've never liked that guy's stuff. Utter self important garbage. Bill Murray's worst material on film. I would say Owen Wilson's too but he's made some bad stuff outside of Anderson. Did Anderson pay to get his stuff put on Criterion? It seems like they release everything he makes.

I do not like Lost in Translation ..well. It's not that it's a BAD movie per se. Just extremely overrated and exploitive.

I didn't like Logan but liked Man of Steel.
I'm completely indifferent to Quentin Tarantino.

Generally speaking, I like the following films:
Ghostbusters 2016 Avatar Titanic Prometheus The Star Wars Prequels The Hobbit films The Dark Knight Rises Alien 3 Bordello of Blood
Although flawed, as a whole, I don't think these films are that bad:
Dreamcatcher Beverly Hills Cop III Star Trek: The Motion Picture Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
I find these films good but overrated:
Juno The Martian American Hustle Spider-Man 2 Django Unchained The Hateful Eight
Many people think it's a classic, but I thought Vertigo was boring.
If I come up with more films, I'll update this

Critics and the public expected too much of Gangster Squad.

The opinion of critics and the public means nothing. The only opinion about a movie that matters is your own. There is no such thing as the wrong or right opinion about a movie.

Agree with you, only I wouldn't quite go so far as saying it blows. It's really overrated. I used to love it when I was younger but on more recent re-watches it's hammy and dated in places with flaws riddled through the plot. Costner is wooden, De Niro is a caricature, and even though Connery is the best one in it, his Irish accent is non-existent. And yes it is rather poorly directed. The scene on the bridge is very badly done. Another unpopular opinion perhaps - the Rocky theme is kind of rubbish, particularly when that lame singing arrives.

I'm probably going to catch some hell for this, but I think Forrest Gump is the most overrated movie I've ever seen. Never understood its popularity and why people like it so much. Clearly I missed something.

I don't care much for Hitchcock films save for Psycho and Saboteur. Not saying the rest are bad, only well below Psycho and Saboteur.
Scorsese films? Casino and The King of Comedy are very good. The rest I don't care much for.
Re The Untouchables. Didn't like it at all. Costner is one of the dullest actors out there.

I love the Star Wars prequels.
Die Another Day is on my top 10 Bonds.
I find Batman Begins and Dark Knight Rises to be extremely overrated.
I always strongly disliked Inception and 2001 A Space Odyssey.
I love Super Mario Bros. Batman Forever and Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.
Jason Takes Manhattan is my favorite Friday the 13th.

-I didn't care for the Lord of The Rings trilogy...as a guy who grew up with "The Hobbit" being his favorite book for many years. I don't know how they could have made it as boring as it ended up. They tried, and while many people loved it, I found it about as entertaining as reading the cooking instructions on the back of a box of Bagel Bites.
-Johnny Depp hasn't done anything interesting since his first crack at Jack Sparrow. That's a shame too, because when Depp is on, he's on.
