Forward.
Backward is a trip into unsantized conditions which we are no longer adapted to. Disease, food, bacteria, etc.
But in the future, I'm sure there's advanced medication to take care of any potential problems we'd encounter.

I'd like to go forward, but I'd want to see it from a distance first (in case the Earth is gone or something).

It is possible. We're all going into the future one second at a time.

If I could safely observe I would go back to the building of our solar system. If you go too far forward it is possible Earth is no longer habitable.

I definitely want to see the future. The far off future. I think I'd go to the year 3000. I want to see how advanced we get technology wise and if we ever make it to Mars or any other planets.
