There's a big Star Trek convention happening in Las Vegas this week at the Rio from August 2-6.
Any of you going to it?
Just curious.

Well, I might have if I saw your thread sooner. I actually live in Vegas. Then again, I've already seen Shatner in his one man show. I saw Takei's WWII play and got an autograph (unfortunately he apparently doesn't do pictures, though). My other favorite players (Nimoy, Kelley, Montalban) are gone. *shrug*

He was talking to us about being captain of the Excelsior and how that would be a great idea for a new series. I swear he has somehow come to believe he is now the star of Star Trek.

Yeah, I didn't want to play the embittered fan, but... this was January 2016 in NY during record low temperatures, we waited over an hour for him to come out, and I was like the last person he talked to. Plus I'd thought I'd seen him taking pics with the other attendees, who all happened to be Asian, but I told myself maybe I was mistaken. I forgot I've also seen Colm Meany and Armin Shimerman, also in plays. I met Armin after (who I know more as the principal from Buffy, I haven't seen his Trek show) and he was nice. He probably would have taken a pic, but I was kind of scared to ask people at that point.

I should've went in the 80's and early 90's when the conventions were jam-packed with hardcore trekkers. I went to one in New Jersey like 15 years ago with Shatner there and it was pretty cool but not like the glory days of the conventions.

I wouldn't go out of my way to go to a Star Trek convention but I did see the actress who played Ezri Dax speak at the local ComicCon once. Deanna Troi, Riker and I think Sulu were also there for autograph sessions. I saw them feom a distance.
