Most likely my most favorite TV movie of all time. Darrin McGavin totally perfect as Kolchak.
Thought the sequel THE NIGHT STRANGLER was also very cool. Not a huge fan of the TV show that followed, but it didnt take away from the original movies.
Barry Atwater as blood bank raiding Janos Skorzeny throwing guys out windows and tossing cops into swimming pools, awesome stuff to my sensibilities at 12 years old, and I can still watch it now. It holds up!

Darrin McGavin and his eccentrics is what makes it so memorable. Solid writing too.
I think the sequel is just as good. If not a little more imaginative.

Excellent movie, made for tv or otherwise. Great creepy atmosphere throughout, the vampire was very effective and the Kolchak character was tailor made for McGavin.
I did like the tv series, too. Some clunkers, but some really outstanding and imaginative horror, too.

This was, by far, the best of the bunch. Only trouble I had was the very obvious stuntman whenever Atwater was required to do some serious throwing, jumping and leaping.

I liked the first movie, the vampire was truly scary. I still have yet to see the TV series.

Good Movie Of The Week. Though I do wonder how a guy like Kolchak got a gal like Gale.
