Just finished up season one on dvd. Had to be groundbreaking as it was filmed almost entirely on location in Hawaii. Compared to other 'cop' shows of that era, this one is years ahead. For my money, the best opening of any tv series I have ever seen. Jack Lord is very good as McGarrett, intense seems an understatement. But he also is very good in a few episodes where he goes undercover and is really really good in one very emotional scene in a two parter where his little nephew is dying of cancer and he is sitting in his office alone in the dark and crying. Kinda shocked me. As the season progressed, I could tell the stories were getting a bit more involved, more complex. Good supporting cast, though most of them were not asked to do much. Lots of guest stars I recognized from other tv series of the time. Overall, a very good start. 8/10

Here's a list of my favorite episodes of Hawaii Five-O.

But the way the cops went all Bonnie and Clyde on that sergeant at the end was kinda shocking!
