What did you like best about each of the three incarnations of The Twilight Zone? IMPO - Of all my favorites the original 1959 Twilight Zone will always be paramount . At the same time I have never felt put off by the other Twilight Zone incarnations or remakes either . Basically I just see these other shows as a moderate yet memorable embodiment type tribute to Rod Serling himself ( this also IMPO of course ) . Here is what I did like of each of these three shows - 1. The Twilight Zone (1959 TV series) The original and still the best it's the one that got most of us TV folks thinking about what the future may hold for us . 2. The Twilight Zone (1985 TV series) The 1980's did seem like a major comeback for a lot of these classic shows like this particular one but I felt with this version it added a bit of fun to these mysterious short stories also . 3. The Twilight Zone (2002 TV series) Finally third times a charm for this semi forgotten version which I of course still appreciated ( like the1985 version ) . This one's modern take still had it's interesting twist and turns and with it's fascinating host Forest Whitaker most definitely for me had it's appeal . Thanks so much reelreviews2 for your subject post .

I've never seen the later series. I may have watched a couple of episodes in 1985 but I don't remember. Is that worth watching? I feel like in color it kind of takes away the mystique of it. If that's the right word for it. Probably not

Also this show has very different filming to it it's done in that 1980's style - almost like the TV Show - Tales from the Darkside . Also no complaints from me here I also liked this type of filming too it's a diffent kind of classic style . Most of the storylines are not exactly the same as the original TZ either . My suggestion is to view it independently and not compare it too much to the original TZ either ( and as also with the 2002 TZ version if you do decide to watch that one ) . Thanks jayhn1111 for your reply .

The original series is perfection. The others are unwatchable IMO.

The OS had actors giving great performances. My favorite episode is 'Shadowplay'.
My favorite of the 1985 show was 'The Need to Know'.

What did you like best about each of the three incarnations of The Twilight Zone? I liked Outer Limits always better. More time to tell a story.

I like The Outer Limits but as I'm watching it's clearly just a monster of the week show. An hour is just too long for something that. Some episode pull it off great while others make me want to fall asleep before they're over.

I had heard of the 1985 one but I don't think I have seen any episodes.
I never heard of the 2002 version.
Part of the charm of the original was Rod Serling and I don't know how you replace him. And there were a ton of great actors, character actors who fit right into roles and sold them.
And the black and white, which normally I am not a fan of, works beautifully.
Plus, the stories were fairly simply and yet completely compelling.

But I never did really give the newer series a chance. I would at some point though.
