I have a 10 yr old Insignia that's shuts off all the time but only when it's on one specific channel. Has this ever happen to anybody else and should I get it fixed or is it time to get a new tv?

I bought an Element TV several years back that started going wonky after about 3 years. Eventually it made a continuous low humming noise and if I turned it off I would have to hit the power button then unplug it plug it back in and try again usually 20 or 30 times. I would just leave it on all the time and after a few months I bought a new TV when I found a good deal.
The lesson was NEVER buy an off brand TV. If you got ten years out of one you are way ahead of the game. You can get a really nice 40'' or larger for pretty cheap these days. Even a smart TV. I would start shopping if I were you.

Probably right. This one is a 47". Seen some decent ones 57" or bigger for the same price I paid 10 years ago.

They really don't make these to last very long anymore. If you get five years, you're lucky. Fortunately, they are a lot cheaper in price. I had one that the picture would just blink off and on. Discovered that it stopped when I reduced the brightness setting.

Found a temporary fix. Even though it doesn't feel hot, I set up a small fan facing the back vents and have not had any problems yet. Still going to get a bigger HDTV anyways, but at least I still have this one.

I bought a 55' "Pro-Scan" HDTV from K-Mart about 4 years ago. It's an off brand of RCA.
I haven't had any problems with it. It came with a ROKU stick in the HDMI 2 slot. So it's essentially a smart tv with apps.
So there are random good deals from off brands.
