Do we really need another "list" of what you consider the greatest horror films of a particular decade? I'd rather read your reasonings, instead of just a bullet-by-bullet list.
And come on, please! No more stupid polls! "Which is fishier, Jaws or Jaws II?" Ugh.

No more stupid polls! "Which is fishier, Jaws or Jaws II?" Ugh. Does it really matter? If you don't like a topic, you can choose not to click on it. And if you want a certain kind of discourse, you can start a thread on that topic. I don't like every kind of thread, but I certainly respect the right of others to create topics related to their interests. If conversations are not to our liking, then it is incumbent upon us to provide topics for discussion in the hopes that others will join in. What would you like to talk about? And actually, yes, decades lists are important because they help us realize when there are holes in our knowledge base. If a certain film we haven't seen shows up on several lists, for example, then we are often motivated to check it out. Besides, this is a pretty new community, and such lists are a way of helping us get to know each other.

Let's talk about talking. That seems to be one of your favorite subjects.

Let's talk about talking. That seems to be one of your favorite subjects. While I do think that meta-discussions can be rewarding, I have not yet had one with anyone on this site, so I don't know what you are talking about. Although I offered a point of view counter to yours, I was careful to not be insulting. I was civil. I explained my position, and I cited several benefits of the threads you are demanding to stop. You, on the other hand, responded with an insult, albeit one that was mild and oddly vague. In a thread on INTK, you complain about people insulting you when that is exactly the behavior you exhibit to others. Did you ever stop to think how abrasive your written communication is? You act like a bully. You also told another poster the other day in a thread not to tell you what to do, yet here you are demanding that only the threads you deem worthy should be posted. If you want that control, make your own discussion board. But as long as you are here, any thread related to the horror, thriller, or suspense genre is okay. Honestly, I don't know why you patronize discussion boards, because you seldom want to discuss anything. You just want to tell people what you think and have them agree with you. You only behave decently when people agree with you. So far you seem incapable of handling dissenting opinions. I had a back-and-forth with another poster the other day that ended up with both of us saying, "I see what you are saying." But I haven't seen you concede anything yet. You just fight with them. I mean, a good response to this post would be something like, "Yeah, I should probably take a little care to consider how angry I sound in writing. I should work on that, but I still think these polls and decades threads are irritating." Then I could respond, "It's no sweat. I understand where you are coming from. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh too." I'm willing to shake hands if you are, but you have to start by conceding something, if only tone of voice. Otherwise, you are the bully I accused you of being.

I never said you weren't civil. But you don't have to come across like a reprimanding professor, either. Relax. It's JUST a message board; you're not presenting a thesis.

Nope. Never said I agree. I just finally understand why you behave the way you do.

And come on, please! No more stupid polls! "Which is fishier, Jaws or Jaws II?" Ugh. Jaws 2 was far fishier, IMO.
